Before I could drive I ordered my first custom boards from the local shop, my first one was a Donald Takayama single fin, I loved that board, but then twin fins hit, and I ordered a Canyon bat tail twin shaped by Rusty, I loved that board even more. Eventually thrusters hit and I got my drivers license so the first time I ordered a custom board from a shaper by going to see him I was 16 and drove to Mike Richardson's (Electric Duck) house in I.B. That was a terrifying experience! Not because of Mike, he was super nice to me, but he had two huge dobermans that appeared to want to kill me, and anyone else who came to the door and knocked. I was sweating the hole time and it was winter. I got 2 or 3 Electric Ducks, but damn those dogs freaked me out every time. Finally, my friend Al Cleland was getting so many deep barrels on his David Craig boards that switched over to Craigs. Dave was a true craftsmen, super mellow, and no dobermans!
