griffin hovercraft--when you run the keels do yo mount them in the front position of the rear position?
which keels are you using?

my hovercraft only has rear fin boxes. it doesn't have front boxes for the canards of a twinzer set up, which GG did in later iterations of the hovercraft. i would put the keels in the rear boxes.

i'm using the keels GG made for the the board. they are the two large fins show in the pic.

I should remind myself every day in the sea.... no GWS. Every shark attack news story I'm like... not here! (yet)
I actually like the cool water here (except deepest winter) as I overheat very easily.
We live in Zelah but maybe moving to France when we sell the house as things in the uk are not to our political/environmental tastes.

I've never done kite/foil but our local pub landlord is a kiter of repute apparently.

Hey Jeff,

I just came across this message, I would have texted you at the very least to thank you for the offer, but weirdly enough this does not show on my PMs. I only saw this after clicking on my profile pic (and I don't think it's a private message, it says "Profile Posts").

I appreciate the gesture. If for some odd reason you end up in São Paulo, look me up.

Hey man, what's up? Are on SJI? What business do you own? I had a Hewescraft 240 Pacific Explorer before my Duckworth. We were just up in the San Juans over Memorial Day weekend, heading back for 4th of July weekend staying at Lopez Islander Resort.

More importantly, are you surfing around here?

Hi Jon,

Ordering a few boards in Dark Arts construction including a White Tiger and was hoping to get quick guidance on dims. 6’0” x 220 +/- 5, and in 50’s. Could paddle a 6’2” WT no problem, but was thinking of stretching one out to 6’4” (pulling in to 21”).

Also thinking of a stock 6’4” Wildcat to compliment.

Any input would be appreciated.

Best,

Michael

But, yes that stretching can work fine, but pulling in width might not make much sense

I did not know Griffin like you, but I did get 9 boards from him. I was 50# heavier when I got them. he was great at sizing boards for fat guys. I was down about 30 when he passed. we were emailing about a new batch of boards for my new weight.
I did snag a twinzer that popped up on the erbb the other day. it is perfect dimensions for the new me.
if there were to be griffins available again I would be interested.

Was the twinzer red? if So I know that guy who sold it to you. I am looking into getting GG's files from his wife - let me see where it goes - the problem is I am no shaper and would need someone to finish the boards once cut. working on it.

Someone dropped a nude in the thread a few posts in.
I thought it was common courtesy to not do that.
Not sure why it feels so personal for you.
"Hey Simon ~ Hope this finds you well. Might you be able to "sticky" SH3'a post, "Paddling for ASL" thread for a bit. Ashley might / would appreciate it ...
Thank You,
Peter
Hi Ted, I'm in north OC. Do you make your way north anytime soon? if so, how far? I work in south OC and can try to check board out before work.

Hi- I’m out of town until Saturday- but next week I’ll be around. I could surf north county San Diego, as far north as Encinitas, early AM on Tuesdays or Thursdays before work and meet you around there.
You got me interested in basalt. Started reading some. My latest boards ditched the balsa rails, too much work and cost. I've been painting them black. One thing I don't like about that is when you get an impact, the cloth "snackles" and the white fibers show up in a glaring way. I was thinking the basalt cloth would look nice on the rail with the wood and would be a good strength addition under the deck veneer.
