That wave pool project does seem like a grossly insensitive and completely unnecessary tourism development project, even by Hawaii standards, where building anything and everything to sustain mass-market industrial tourism was considered to be ok -WTF???

Wai Kai, a surf destination and wave pool, is set to open in Oahu, Hawaii, amid protests due to a historic water crisis.www.sfgate.com
Preach. There has to be a Texan behind it. Only a Texan would want to build a wave pool in Hawaii. That wave pool project does seem like a grossly insensitive and completely unnecessary tourism development project, even by Hawaii standards, where building anything and everything to sustain mass-market industrial tourism was considered to be ok -

The old Hawaiian saying is something like "when the Nawiliwili flower blossums, the sharks bite." Ancient Hawaiians noticing a correlation between Nawiliwili flowers and sharks biting, which is in Sept/October. What we modern day call Sharktober here in Hawaii. Tiger shark moms, after giving birth in the summer are so hungry from not being able to chase food while pregnant that they are known to bite/eat anything, including humans. Majority of bites happen in October when they do happen. Sightings also go up in October.pu'uloa
by legend, home of the revered o'ahu shark god Kaʻahupāhau
they called it shark country for a reason but in the old days it was just hammerheads and white tipped reef, not tigers and great whites like now. They call it Haubush now but it's really sand tracks for those that remember. Haubush was on the inside of Shark Country where the hau trees were. Right in front of the beach house we grew up and learned to surf at.
