some you guys are missing:

Minor Threat
Joy Division
Buzzcocks
New Order
Modest Mouse (but maybe not a perfect album, always 1-2 wack songs)
Did mention Joy Division. Personal rediscover of them listening to Rolling’s Sunday shows. He’s a big fan of them. They pioneered new wave, punk, and “emo” genres. Pretty impressive talents

Digable Planets - Blowout Comb
Underrated album cause Reachin was so groundbreaking. Both need to be remastered badly
I'm usually against the compression wars but both of those albums are so quite and weak sounding compared to even their contemporary stuff. And they're so good

Vagina Point
Tom Petty

Some of the later stuff was not super strong--even those records had great songs--but I think that was Petty trying to stretch out and not do what he did best, which was the rock anthem.

I’ve got a 90s bias.

Beck: The Information, Guero, Odelay
Beastie Boys: check your head, Ill communication, insound/way out, licensed to ill, paul’s B
Ben Harper: both sides of the gun, diamonds on the inside, fight for your mind

honorable mentions
Alice In Chains: unplugged
Galactic: we love em tonight
Eric Clapton: from the cradle
John Scofield: a go go
Jurassic 5: quality control
Phish: Darien Lake 9/14/2000
Blind Melon: blind melon, soup

A couple more perfect albums:

Stone Temple Pilots - Number 4 - when Scott Wieland stopped sounding like a '90s grunge puppet and actually used his own voice. Also, every song is fantastic.

Beck - Morning Phase - brilliant from beginning to end.

Bands with 3:

Muse - Absolution, Black Holes and Revelations, The Resistance

Pinback - Self-titled, Blue Screen Life, Summer in Abaddon

Tenacious D: Self-titled, The Pick of Destiny, Rize of the Fenix

Tool: Undertow, Aenima, Lateralus
