There’s a lot of very huge bands that had a single amazing album only

I’d put GNR in that category

Nirvana too
I have to disagree.

Bleach, Nevermind, and In Utero are all fantastic. Incesticide and Unplugged were both amazing if they count......and I think they should.

Three? No one. One good album is all it takes. Usually the 1st release.
Devo
That’s why I picked 3 as the standard

It’s very rare

A lot of bands have one

A LOT fewer have two

Only the most absolutely classic bands IMO ever make 3

At least in rock it seems to me

Other genres maybe have more examples

Some of my absolute favorites had two

E.g., TRex

It’s evidently hard to hold your sh!t together after two mega albums back to back

Those are tough constraints.

IMO the only band that comes to mind is maybe Metallica (Master of Puppets, And Justice For All, Black, Ride the Lightning)
Personally, I've NEVER heard a Perfect album, but Master and Justice have to be pretty close.

Oh, there's also Periphery. II and Juggernaut(double album) are pretty damn flawless (if you're into that sort of stuff)

When someone brings Pearl Jam into a music conversation, I think two things:

1. The grown-ups are having a conversation about music, please go back to the stupid kid's table over there.

2. Are they hearing the same thing I'm hearing? Like, is there some kind of physiological mechanism that makes them hear sounds differently than me?

Dude, I'm a huge music snob too, but you don't have to be a dick.
I could surgically pick apart many of your cringeworthy suggestions, but why?
Sh!t, give me a couple hours to relisten to some stuff and I could talk circles around you about why vs is one of the best album of the 90's. But why?

Some people like certain music and some people don't. It's not really about whether the music is "good" so to speak.
That's why music is so great. :wave2:

I unapologetically admit that I listen to tons of garbage. I grew up listening to youth crew hardcore. I love Die Antwoord. I love Bad Company.

Stone Temple Pilots. For the win.
You can't be a music snob and like this band. They just took Soundgarden and Melvins riffs and made them commercially viable.

Watch me........

FWIW, I'm snobby about quality, not who did it first. I think SG and the Melvins were groundbreaking and original, but boring and not complex enough for me.
