It's nice to hear that Tim has so much business. A lot of pros are riding his boards (even clandestinely) for a reason. There's something nostalgic about talking with your shaper and bouncing ideas around. Some people relish this relationship and would never replace it with a fw. The Todd is one.
20 years ago, I got a handshape from one of the hottest shapers in SD at the time (super rare that he would shape a non-team rider's board). I rode this board and ran into a shaper whose boards I rode exclusively from 15-20 yrs old. The hurt he showed when he saw my board made me feel like I broke up with a girl.
But keep in mind, Shapers designs are personal and people have different preferences. What works for the todd might not work for others. I hated the handshaped board I got in the story. my brother and my friend loved his boards.
I used to be extremely loyal to one guy that would make most of my boards. Now that he doesn't shape any more, I've been venturing out and checking out new shapers. To me though, it's still fun to go to the many other talented shapers out there for my alt shapes.

Last time I asked him that, he said he wasn't very picky. He'll drink whatever. Not sure if that has changed though.donger said:
