The red 8'er I've just taken for a grovel paddle to get a feel for how it paddles. It's just for once a year (or three) kind of swells.Colin said:How many of you guys have boards you've never ridden? I have 5
The carbon 6'9" dvs I haven't surfed yet but I'm waiting for a good solid beachbreak day when I have a lot of waves to duckdive and a light crowd since its a pretty thin board for me.
Had to buy it though. It discovered it in the used racks at a Gold coast surf shop that had stacks of pu boards in very ordinary condition for around the same bargain basement price.
I just couldn't leave it there to be maybe sold to some newbie backpackers from Northern Europe to have a go pro mounted on its finely chiselled nose. Then to be disgraced by being seen in lineups paddled around by the new owners like a sea turtle (arms and legs splayed out to the sides) and only ridden in the whitewater as they poo man squatted straight towards shore on every wave.
To ad insult to injury the wombats would leave the board bottom up to the harsh Qld sun with its beautiful black carbon fibre to bake on the sand as they frolicked around playing handball and volleyball in their speedos.
No....this is not to be its fate.
This board will come out on special days and be ridden in anger. Fast breaking, critical takeoffs and deep bottom turns into vicious carving arcs off the top as it slices its blade-like rails through green walls.
Hah, or maybe I'll just poo stance it straight into the shore.
