I love how Australia is being portrayed in right wing American media.....if it keeps one tourist away, then it's job well done in my books.

Don't worry, vaccinated and unvaccinated will have full freedoms, together from Dec1.

the October thing is a nudge to try and get the numbers up.

Us convicts/socialists are doing fine.

Your claim is the restrictions will end on Dec 1. How much money would you like to put on this?

We'll follow Denmark and Norway.

In the end Australia will have suffered very little loss of life or livelihood from Covid, despite what you might read on hyper-ventilating right wing grifter blogs and Reddit.

We can have that factual debate if anyone likes.

This is a strong claim since you've already swung well past them on restrictions. Denmark got to a vax rate of 70% and declared Just hte Flu Now. You're triangle-headed Karens are calling for 90% vax rates and boosters.

How are you defining "normal" as of Dec 1 - the way things were before COVID/Year Zero, or some other definition? I want to know what we're betting on.

80% Vax is the number.

The OP related to restrictions in NSW, the biggest state.

By Dec 1 business as usual in NSW for both vax and unvax.

If you've got spare change invest in Aus, it's going to go fcuking ballistic.

I guess we can do it via PayPal?

The Norwegian Directorate of Health introduced a number of measures from Thursday 12 March 2020:[38]
  • All educational institutions were closed and organized sports activities were to be discontinued.
  • A number of events and businesses were closed, including cultural events, sports events, gyms and swimming pools. All establishments in the hospitality industry such as bars, pubs and clubs other than those serving food were to close, and any establishment serving food would have to ensure that visitors could stay at least 1 meter apart.
  • Healthcare professionals working with patient care were prohibited from traveling abroad until 20 April 2020. The ban applied to both business travel and private travel.
  • Everyone who had returned from trips outside Sweden and Finland since 27 February were to quarantine, regardless of whether they showed symptoms or not.
  • Leisure travel was strongly discouraged. The Directorate discouraged travelling to work unless strictly necessary and encouraged avoiding public transport if possible, as well as avoiding crowded places.
  • People were requested not to visit others in institutions with vulnerable groups (the elderly, psychiatry, prison etc.) and generally encouraged to limiting close contact with others.
  • The public transport schedule was to run as normal, to ensure that people with critical social functions could get to and from work and be able to distance themselves from each other.

We've probably gone a bit harder than Norway, but not by much, and you have to remember: most of the restrictions in Aus have been concentrated in the 2 largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne.

For vast areas of the country life has carried on as normal.

It's extremely amusing to me that one of the safest, softest, free-est countries that has ever existed is now being referred to as a totalitarian/authoritarian regime.

Are people really that historically stupid?

I guess they are.

Personally I'm a free-dumb, libertarian by temperament who loves free health care and hates guns.
Also, do genuinely believe in American exceptionalism.

So there are no vaccine passports but if there are, they will disappear Dec 1?

I highly doubt vaccine passports will come in before Dec 1, let alone at all.

Certain private businesses might make conditions of entry but I doubt that too.

You want to double or nothing on vaccine passports in NSW?

I taught in China for a week. I was supposed to be there for a month. They kept lying to me and I was calling them out for it, "you can't expect me to do this work if you keep lying to me!"

Then they had the principal come threaten me in the hotel and we almost got in a fist fight. I had the weird thing where my perception of sound changes right before the punches get thrown.

My friend jumped between us in the hotel to break it up.

We went up to our room and I told my friend we are leaving now.

So we jumped in a cab and took a 3 hour drive to the NanJing Airport and flew home.

They sent someone after us but we ditched them and got out of the country.
Were you teaching English??? or....

"State premier Gladys Berejiklian has made no secret that lockdown rules will only be eased for fully vaccinated people once the state hits its 70 per cent and 80 per cent vaccination targets. However, as the NSW government unveiled the next part of the ‘roadmap to freedom’, which will be triggered once 80 per cent of adults over the age of 16 have been double jabbed, the premier said that unvaccinated people would need to wait several weeks longer, until December 1."

While not unanimous, the majority of the crisis cabinet and the state's health experts have advocated for "higher saturation points" of vaccination before retiring the need for vaccine passports and QR check-ins. Customer services minister Victor Dominello suggested this could be achievable by Christmas. "Notwithstanding that these are my babies," Dominello said of the vaccine passport technologies he is currently overseeing, "I will be the first to turn them off... They are only to be used in pandemic situations."

I doubt they will even show up before they are "retired".

The govt has made it clear they won't be the enforcing body and private businesses will quickly realise that it's a waste of time if the requirement will be "retired" on Dec 1.

Do you think borders and travel for vaccinated travelers will be allowed by Dec 1?

International?

who knows, thats up to the countries involved.

Our Pacific neighbours want to open up by then, mostly Fiji, which is great.
Late season Cloudbreak hit could be on.

State borders? Almost certainly.

Although our states based system is far more independent than the USA.
There may be one or two hold-outs.
Not for long though.
