The ship managed to radio ahead so they blocked the road.Amazing only 6 people missing.
So lucky the bridge wasn't collapsed with rush hour traffic... that would have been a major catastrophic death toll.
"Good Morning SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS. Do the needful. We are the fucking!"The ship managed to radio ahead so they blocked the road.
I get the feeling the majority of public works projects these days are related to median strip landscaping and sidewalk beautification. And when they do anything of any magnitude, it goes at a glacial pace. It works well, that way they can spend a bunch of money doing jackshit and then get a larger budget for the following year. Our infrastructure is so massive, seems like gov is overwhelmed trying to keep track of it all. They can't even repair potholes in a reasonable amount of time.
Keeping track of the condition of 600,000 bridges in the US, plus highways, barriers, overpasses, roads, etc. seems impossible. Then there is the money needed to fix it all. It's an interesting quandary.
The Hindus are butthurt about stuff like this, "But Americans were piloting the ship at the time!" How do you pilot a ship that has no power? That bridge reflected racism and white supremacy and had to come down.
there's a rumor on X that the architect was liking foamandfunction.net posts on Instagram...That bridge reflected racism and white supremacy and had to come down.
to get on the radio & warn everyone; drop anchor; pray.I am not that familiar with maritime law, but what is the responsibility of the harbor pilot when the ship loses steering and/or power?
They have to remove all parts of the bridge in the water. It's a major shipping lane.My wife was back in Baltimore seeing her family this past weekend, drove over the bridge.
Port of Baltimore is shut down indefinitely.
Silver lining: perhaps the fallen bridge will make good fish habitat like it did when Galloping Gerdie fell in 1940 between Gig Harbor and Tacoma. We drive that bridge all the time, and fish for lingcod in the wreckage.
"SAAAAAAAAR! I know where you can find the labor!"They have to remove all parts of the bridge in the water. It's a major shipping lane.
There was nothing wrong with the bridge itself. To build a stand alone bridge capable of withstanding that sort of impact is virtually impossible without engineering it to be a castle on the water. No one would pay to do that.really interesting.
"the key bridge has almost no redundancy"
"pillars not prepared to handle modern cargo ships"
sounds like if we kept up with our infrastructure this may not have happened.
Breh they have to remove the parts in the shipping channel. The parts not in the shipping channel should be reserved as habitat for under-served members of the tautog, sheepshead, porgy, and striped bass community. They have to remove all parts of the bridge in the water. It's a major shipping lane.
