In the 20th century alone, all manner of Godless Communists, Socialists and National Socialists killed more humans than every religion combined, ever, and it ain't even close.
Both Hitler and stalin were avid church goers in their youth, thats where they learned all their tricks.

I find strawmaning and slanting and gaslighting to be interchangeable.

It the framer's effect on the framer that makes it possible for a gaslghter to gaslight himself.

Or transgender to religion.

We're entering a new age where politics and social views are religion.

Add to that facts don't matter and science is the enemy.
Assuming for a second that your ridiculous claim is correct and that transgenderism is a religion that disregards science.

Why do you mock it and hate it so?

Do transgenders create policy in this country?

You mentioned the discussion when Dawkins came out with God Delusion.

Do you remember what events unfolded in those years?

Do you remember these loons praying before they launched yet another uneccessary war that killed hundreds of thousands of people?

How dare we mock religion.

That's because you're misusing the term "gaslighting." As psychologists keep telling us.

Bringing up religion as it was in the worldview of 1000 A.D. and relating it to present is pretty dishonest.
You used the exact opposite of this argument to defend biblical literalists, another one intellectually incapable of good faith debate

Way to stick by your convictions. It explains a lot.
.
I don’t believe in god. It’s not my job, or my interest, to convince others god doesn’t exist. If my mom is happy believing it, I’m happy to play along.

I have no conviction regarding this issue. In fact, I’m open to being convinced to the contrary.

He said the non religious killed more recently.

Mentioning the Crusades isn't dishonesty

It's a broad frame.

The fact that CS needed a narrow frame shows he's the one who not being honest.
Not only that but there's a difference between killing in the name of religion and killing because you happened to have absence of religion.

Stalin didn't send people to gulag in the name of atheism.
He was a psychopath.

Uh, no.

I said at one time the literal belief in the Bible was likely a net positive for one's mental health.

When you're lucky to make it to age 25 religion likely played a big role in pushing humanity forward. Your worldview in Medieval Europe and the Middle East would have likely been hopeless without it.

Did it help people commit atrocities? YES.

But was the net benefit of Christianity spreading across Europe ultimately a positive? Probably so. Despite the bad.

“The intent of gaslighting really is to cause confusion and sow the seeds of doubt,” Martinez says. “It can be a very coercive and controlling tactic.”

People do that all the time here.

Trump does it all the time.

Those here who parrot trump do it too.

Maybe the trump guys here are victim of trumps gaslighting too?

Like I said, I find it odd they don't mention the framing effect.

My view is we have outgrown any usefulness Religion may have had, and now we are only left with negatives. none of this means i want a war on religion, just keep it out of politics.

None of those leaders killed in the name of godlessness. They killed for power and used a ban on religion to keep it.

Related, Mein Kampf is clear that Hitler thought he was doing God’s work.
