It’s important to think about where you want to go with foiling. I wish I had, I would’ve saved some money for sure.

In my local area we get pretty short even on foilable waves in summer but we have 2 good things. Very strong Seabreeze pretty much every day during the summer and lots of rock walls and marinas. I know a guy here who put 2 and 2 together and came up with something epic.

I’ve been riding a couple of different setups up to this point...both in the 1300ish sqcm range. They have been great for actual surfing and I’ve been progressing nicely but I’m riding shortish waves and I’ve been unable to pump back out.

Today I got a Gofoil Kai-Iwa-M200 tripler secondhand. I went straight to the Iwa, and holy crap it changed everything for me. I pumped out twice on first couple of waves and loved it for surfing. It felt so drivey. Tried the M 200 and it was smooth as silk. So stoked, wish I’d done it earlier.

Building a 4’ board now too.

Well, I’m off to work on dock/rock starts. Enjoy!

How is the lift profile on the Go Foil wings? Does it lift quickly like the Naish or does it require some backfoot pressure to start lifting?

Been thinking a lot about getting a used Go Foil setup.

Depends on the wing, the Kai definitely needs help as it's small.
Iwa doesn't need much help
M200 no help needed to get flying as it's huge

I've got plenty of footage with different wings on my YouTube channel

Why not get a Naish XL wing? $531. Then review that for me so I know if I should buy one. :)

I saw that post Grendel. I didn’t post it here because it seems like so much overlap that price isn’t worth it.

Nice !!

Handmade on Maui Jimmy/Marlon Lewis latest foil board. Very light and very strong.
Wings- Nalu, Kai , Maliko 160 , Iwa, Maliko 200

Back wings - Kai , Custom , Maliko
Tuttle box plate adapter -custom carbon fiber made on Maui by Mark Raaphorst
Custom mast 27.5 "
Like to sell as a quiver but willing to sell board and or Tuttle box plate adapter.
And wings and mast as a set

I'd be interested to see how much he'd part out just the board, mast, and Iwa/Kai tail combo. That's a custom "Super Fly" model that JL/ML are doing production/pop out models now. I like the outline, volume, width. I'd just go down from 5'2" to 4'8"ish. It'd be a good learner board.

The custom tuttle plate adapter by Mark Raaphorst fail. There's been 5 I've personally seen completely explode under stress. Marks design was to get them as light as possible, but the wall construction went too thin. They're actually foam core.

But like HDIP said, ALOT of overlap with that combo pack. You'd probably only use 2 of the 5 front wings, ever.

i'll ask him about this, i've been reading the forum too much.

I'm 35, 165, 5'10 - is the 5'2 something i can learn on? I read a lot about how a smaller board is way easier to pump:

Agreed, that green board in the $900 dollar deal is gross. Seems to be a good price for the Naish Large though. Try to resell the board for $200 to make it a great deal.

That Dan Taylor board seems fine enough. It doesn't have the rails like most of the other foil boards that are popular. More of a normal rail it looks like. You'd be able to learn on it though for sure.

https://ventura.craigslist.org/spo/d/ventura-foilboard-and-go-foil/6786476165.html That's the 160 Maliko. Seems like the Iwa is the way to go though, so not sure that's a great deal.
