Doesn't the US export oil?
When the price of energy goes up it makes it more valuable and worth fighting over. This Ukraine situation is flaring up in part due to conflicts over sources and transfers of energy.

When, say, the price of oil is $20 a barrel it’s not profitable to get into a hot war over it. When it’s $100 barrel it might be more tempting.

This is just of many factors at play here.

Aside from this conflict it makes no sense at all to artificially limit our own domestic production of energy. We use “climate change” as a justification to limit ourselves but the reality is that we are still going to use just as much petroleum product no matter what. And the carbon footprint is much higher when that oil comes from foreign sources.

Yes, we export oil and refined gasoline and we import it as well. The less we produce here the more we import.

Anyway, no matter how you shake it, ignoring the available sources of energy we have here is dumb.

Now the conspiracy minded part of me sees the Biden family (along with John Kerry, et al) have big time financial interests in the Ukrainian energy market. If the ruskies take that over the money train to the Bidens (and who knows who all else (Dan Crenshaw comes to mind)) stops.

Follow the money. Always follow the money.

One of the reasons Trump had to be destroyed was because he had no interest in keeping this game going.

Guess what other countries have their hands in all this?

Syria, Iran…

Sound familiar? Somebody wants us fuckking with Syria, making deals with Iran and protecting Ukraine.

Why would that be?

LOL what an analysis.

The price of oil is irrelevant to whether or not it's worth fighting for. If Russia gets more, they just control more supply, which allows them to manipulate the price. Just like OPEC.

Also, it's simplistic to claim "the more we produce here the less we import." We export certain types of oil that are more abundant here and more scarce in other parts of the world (light crude) and import other types of crude that we don't have in high supply. Even if we operated at 100% capacity, we'd end up with way too much of some product and still not enough of others.

It's laughable that you think Biden would send the US to war to protect an alleged small-scale paycheck for Hunter. I mean, isn't he already taking all the money from COVID shots?

False.

True to the extent they can. Fracking in the US really fucked over OPEC because they didn’t have enough juice (in the gangster sense of the word) to manipulate prices.

Yes, I made it simplistic on purpose.

Laugh away.

But COVID and related price drops have shattered shale production in the US. So any big threat from that is gone. But seriously, oil production is a decades long investment. There are always fluctuations in price and production. I promise you Putin isn't sitting there thinking it's a good idea to take control of oil fields and delivery systems because the price per barrel is high today. It's about long-term strategic resource control, nothing more, nothing less.

Also, what financial ties does Biden have to Ukraine today?

Also, why do you think those ties would lead him to war, but discount Trump's financial ties to Russia as a policy influence? Do you really think Brandon would go to war to protect his own personal investment in Ukraine (if they even exist)?

But the Lefties are now Neocon Hawks

Why is that?
Actually no they're not.

Acknowledging that Putin is a bully is not warmongering, it's just stating a fact.

Nobody here wants to go to war, that I know of.

That's a very different picture from 10 years ago when the "must maintain the US domination of the world/American Exceptionalism" crowd was universally right wing, in the same way anti-vaxxers are today universally rightie dummies (wellness dummies not included).

As for the Clinton Democrats, they were never Lefties or Liberals to start with.
That includes Brandon.
