I haven't surfed the stoker in 2 years and every time I think about selling it i cringe. Why?? I typically surf the same 4-5 boards depending on conditions but can't let the rest go.

Have you been able to thin down to a minimalist quiver? Do you have regrets letting some gems go that you just don't surf?

5 10 coil FBF/Simm combo
5'10 Coil minisimm
6 0 Stamps fish
6 2 blur
6 3 stoker v
6 4 Aleutian juice (parameter) stoccy
6 6 bonzer e-wing egg
6'6 Rawson Sniper
6 8 Aleutian juice (Parmenter) vector
7 0 christianson flat tracker 2.0 (thruster)
9’0 Pearson Arrow
9’6 takayama

I'm super minimal now

5'4" Mardawg/Stretch Super Buzz
5'6" Mardawg Quad Fish
6'8" Album Ledge

That's really all I need. Tommy has my day to day boards so dialed that I don't even get board fever anymore because I know I can cover 90% of days with the Super Buzz and Quad Fish and I surf so well on them I don't even need to look for anything else. My Album Ledge is amazing, but it comes out, what, maybe 10 times a year? Its resin tint, gloss, and polish so it will last forever

I have a 6'0" Paramenter MPEgg on the way though.

I'm building my quiver right now

5'8 keel fish - already have
6'0 grinder - have one that's too big, making a smaller one
6'2 grinder - wish list
6'2 drifter - have the blank, going to shape today
6'4 drifter - shaped yesterday
6'10 moped
7'2 ese loco - have one from last season, making a revised version, blank is on order, picking up next Monday
9'0 sender - have one from last season, making a revised version, blank is on order, picking up next Monday

grinder is an everyday bump squash thruster
drifter is good wave/slab board
moped is a funboard
ese loco is a semigun
sender is a gun

I have about a dozen boards in my collection but my working quiver is really only about 5 or so. Sadly, I just haven't connected with my Octafish this past year. I keep it at my office as an emergency backup.

Most used boards:

6'4" Harbour Twin Keel Fish
6'5" John Baum Shovel nose 5 fin
7' Anderson Bjorquez Hull
7'5" SrPato Widowmaker
7'8" Mysto Fusion Funboard
8' Harbour Spherical revolver

Least used:
6'2" Octafish
7'2" single fin egg
8'3" Alan Gibbons Widowmaker
9'6" Srpato single fin longboard

I go fairly minimal.

Groveler
All-arounder
Alt-shape
HPSB
Step-up

If one of these isn't working, I replace it with something that does.

I have a few boards in various stages of disrepair lying around. Usually I'll just surf one consistently for months/years on end until it snaps or gets perpetually waterlogged and then it's time to get a new one.

Minimal but I also tend to buy/sell boards often to mix things up. Pretty much riding a 5'10 Hypto exclusively these days. I have a custom 6'4 I had made last year that I bring out when I can. Will ride the fish or a longboard occasionally as well.

Not sure if it's minimal or not, but this is the quiver I've happily settled on:

Grovel-ish/fishy board (Stamps Fuse)
Short period windswell stubby shortboard (Shorter, wider Stamps GX)
Every day shortboard (Longer, narrower Stamps GX)
Good wave shortboard (JS Monsta 6)
Step-up (Stamps)

Props to Kento for maintaining the life-long college student quiver. The rest of us are probably overthinking things. :socrazy:

+1, though in the last two years I've tried hard to follow OTs advice, so there's that. 1 longboard, 1 funboard (first board I ever bought), a 6'6" and 6'10". The 6'10" is the only one that isn't: yellowed, horribly dinged or both.

I think I am starting to get another addiction.

Longboard
midlength
fish
6'0 CI SP 12
5'11" CI rubble
5'11" CI rook 15
5'8 CI Fever
5'11 pyzel ghost
5'7 pyzel gremlin
And today just pulled the trigger on a 5'9" pyzel phantom. I just had to have that phantom to round out the pyzel quiver.

I think I can ride everything I want with the 3 pyzels and maybe the longboard for the summer. But may need to order a custom 6'2 or 6'3 ghost if I can pull an indo or fiji trip
But hate getting rid of boards unless I just don't click with them.

Would you be interested in loaning the Octafish? I would want to see if I can compete with the longboards at my local on such a short board. If I could, I remember a few waves at your local where it felt really smooth...maybe you'd sell? Since you don't use it much?

Sure, let's call it an extended loan. After watching you tear it up on this board, I have confidence it'll go to a good foster home.

To me minimal is two boards max.

So mine would be fairly extensive.

5’3 Roberts twin
5’3 Mccallum
5’4 Christenson twin
5’6 Ci dumpster diver swallow tail
5’7 DVS rocket fish
5’9 Roberts black dump truck swallow tail
6’1 Roberts g step up
6’4 HIC step up
9’0 Hobie Terry Martin
11’6 Bark handshape prone paddle/surf hybrid

Have a new 5’9 and 6’1 on way from Roberts to replace those in quiver.

Minimal I would say, compared to some of my friends/neighbors. I've narrowed it down to the keepers, boards I regularly ride depending on swell/season

10'0" Bushman gun
9'0" Bushman longboard
7'4" Bushman gun
6'10" Rusty EPS quad from Craigslist, crazy good board, guess you would call this a step up
6'4" Pyzel Phantom
A 5'4" fish I shaped
Fins

Plus a two person kayak, couple SUP's, a prone paddleboard, an array of soft tops and bodyboards to stay wet
