Wow! This place devoured over a decade of my life... pre FB, pre Insta, pre whatever is going on now. Met a ton of erBB, scored free surfboards, free entry into events... we have lost erBB legends, RIP... but losing the whole erBB is mind blowing... so much truth, fiction and tomfoolery... I have screengrabs of Big Brown Ball, JAH and a bunch of other random stuff! Thank all of you that are still here for all of your amazing content... Here is one of the first videos I ever posted on the erBB of me and my daughter Lulu.... them were the dayz! <iframe width="560" height="315" src="
" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Please oh please share screengrabs of big ball! that is the funniest sh!t story ever on the erbb!!

Can one of you smart tech amigos build a message board? We can buy url name - "Surfer Mag Forum' or something like that. Then when people search, click on that directs to our custom site. Donation run can totally make this happen. Think we should copy Slap Mag Forum layout & what they are doing. Last print of Slap Mag 2008. Their forum still super active today.

Be a shame if we dont build our own forum like them. We need to keep these shenanigans going...

When I read that Surfer is shutting down, I did think that maybe I should cobble together a new one to replace our beloved cesspit where the detritus of society hangs out.

West of the Atlantic. East of the ICW.
I have pretty much every issue going back to 1987. Prior to that I subscribed to Ing instead of Er. Got Ings from 1982 to 1990 but the covers always came loose. Does this make my collection more valuable? Worth anything?

Issues of Ing from the 80s are worth maybe a dollar or two. I was selling lots of 70s issues on ebay two years ago and getting $20 for a box of ten.
There was a time when 60s issues of ER fetched $100 or more on ebay. These days, you're lucky to get $20.
60s mags are the most collectible and even those have dropped in value by a lot.

A few years back I bought a 60s issue for the month that I was born. Paid $9 for it.

Sounds lik ER is trying to save face. The proximity between the Biden propaganda campaign and shutdown was a lil too close to be statistically coincidental.

The irony of all this is that the same free market that made magazines, surfboard manufacturing, drug smuggling, and clothing companies possible is now under attack by the many of the surf businesses it created. Talk about suicidal indoctrination.

Socialism/Marxism is a poison. Congrats Surfer on your Darwin Award.

Just some general thoughts.
The recent news about ER closing down its print version has NOTHING to do with a political endorsement. The magazine had a fairly political slant in decades past, especially when it cdame to the environment. Speaking of that, I see a few comments from the science deniers on here. Typical, and no doubt MAGA maggots.
Print media in general has been in decline for a good ten years. Online content has taken over. All media is driven by advertising. Corporations put their money where it reaches the most eyes. As to the comments about the magazine being in decline due to a commercial slant, it was always commercial to some degree but the travelling circus known as pro surfing took over the main focus of surf media in the late 70s. Now the WSL is owned by a total kook billionaire and run by people who don't surf. They can all get f****d as far as I'm concerned.

Depends on the issue, and the condition. Like I said, you are lucky to get $20 for a 60s issue now. The ones that still sell for more than $100 are the four issues from 1961.
What year were you born? The newer the mag, the less value it has.

I love how you dimbulbs try to correlate this shutdown with the Biden endorsement. I serioiusly doubt one caused the other. Anyone on the editorial staff most likely knew the end was getting near.

You probably can't even define socialism. Spoken like a true trumpoid.

I agree. The editor-in-chief certainly knew Surfer was shutting down. The Biden endorsement was probably his last hurrah.

17 years lurking on these message boards. See you around Surfer Mag. Hopefully you get bought by some non-corpo brand and restored to glory. But I fear thats not gonna happen.

Not the same but as a contingency plan the "FB erBB Message Board Group" was created on Facebook. Can at least maintain some of the friendships. Btw, we need to somehow capture the history and some of the epic threads for posterity, just in case.
