I remember the particular photo still, quite vividly. It was "racey" for the time period. it's funny that a short grammar sentence will trigger someone's memory like "spicy Italian meat-a-balls" and one comes up with Jayne Mansfield's boobage and an exposed nipple. Loren always had the quiet seduction about her. Classy and tasteful. Thank you Sir!found it... and more!

OK, so, if you live in or are visting LA, check out Pizzana. There's one in WeHo and one in Brentwood. The pizza is some of the best in LA, wine and beer list is very good. Lately, though, they have been making sandwiches. Check these motherfuckers out:
Chicken Milanesa
Mortadella w/ burrata and pistachio something. Fvcckk.
Cubano: smoked mortadella and slow roasted pork. Allahu Akbar!
Basically a twist on a Muffaletta. Hehe, he said "Muff."
They are expensive ($17) but they are actually HUGE and easily feed two.
So good.

Those all look amazing, especially the Cuban. Would meat me to my face.
I've had the "Muffaletta" and the mortadella/pistachio/burrata one. Both very good. I'm getting the "Cuba Bologna" this week. It's only on menu until next weekend.
The basic elements are there- ham, cheese, pork, pickles, mustardish sauce. Close enough for me, who cares as long as it tastes good.
A good sandwich is a good sandwich. Finding a place that makes good sandwiches is the crux. Garden Liquor Deli in Santa Cruz. They make a kick ass Italian Roast Beef Sammy. They also make the best hot homemade Hot Pastrami sammy in the county. The best grilled chicken sammy..... Their hot pastrami. New York trannies go there for their fix.
When they make all of their stuff from scratch. Fresh every day. It's a freakin Liquor store. There are no signs on the street saying, "Fresh Homeade Sammys Here". You Know or you Don't know....
In fairness to Pizzana, they are calling it a "Cuba Bologna." I will report back on this.
