Confused. Why’d they evac to China peak when they just escorted a bunch of cars from China peak? Must be bad between Huntington and shaver.

Only two roads out of Huntington, Highway 168, and Huntington Lake Rd. Fire is raging around Sunset point which is southwest of the dam and all around H.Lake Rd so it's not possible to drive out. And fire has also jumped highway 168 between Shaver and Huntington so that is closed too.

Just was chatting with an old surfer friend on Facebook who posted photos from his back yard and then came here to read this... Fvvck...The absolutely, last thing California needs right now is more fire. He's about 10 miles away but that may change very quickly with the intensity and conditions.

Creek Fire exploding in size at 73,000 acres in 24hrs. Expanding in three directions in some really difficult terrain. Yosemite on alert for possible evac.

About 70 people hunkering down at Edison lake near Vermillion campground. They should be ok, because the lake is very low. Similar to Mammoth Pool, when the lake is low, there is a huge area of flat dirt/rock (lake bottom) you can drive out onto, away from all the trees.

The road to Edison/Florence is narrow, one lane, partially paved, pot-holed, partially dirt, and surrounded by trees and some drop offs. Dangerous road to travel at night.

Big Creek, a small community between Shaver and Huntington Lakes and close to where the fire started.

Fvvck.

88,000 acres with the CZU lightening complex here. 100% containted. Probably 5,000 unburt acres inside that containment.

All I can do is wish for the best. This extreme heat. It's 85 degrees in my house right now. 2 miles away from the beach.

Darwinian
These fucking gender reveal parties are absurd. While we are at it, I never remember having a national day for anything and everything on the planet. National margarita day, national dog day, national taco day. STFU already with this bullshit.

On the another note, they should be required to name the kid Blaze.

Yes you definitely could. I have seen smallish RVs at Vermillion Campground over the years. Only sections of the road look like this. There are other sections that are wider and more flat.

This is last part of the road going into Edison

Don't forget to skate the drainage ditch while you're there!

Such a beautiful area, I really hope this fire doesn't go that direction...

hiker story....my question is in regards to their first post of their story. Why didn't they just not hike, get in their car, and call it off?
Skimmed through the story. Attention whore made it sound like they had to hike through the damn fire to stay alive. Total bullshit based on the trail info they provided. Someone should call her out.

Idiots. Had the option to not go, went anyways and made a post about how crazy it was. Abandoned their car, could barely walk, breathe, etc. such a relief to make it! Blah blah blah kooks! Hopefully their car is toast!

Updated fire maps of CREEK FIRE

Reports this morning of some houses lost in Shaver, but majority have been saved so far. Fire is working it's way around the north side of the lake and to the back side (eastern side) of Shaver Lake. This area is steeper terrain but much fewer houses. Hopefully it doesn't envelope the lake like it did at Mammoth. Fire crews doing a stellar job.
