It's been so good. But yeah, crowded. I sneak out first light or last light shifts, quick session, try to get three or four waves and hope one goes all the way. I find when you paddle out there and it's big, consistent 10' or bigger, your problem ends up being a perfect triple overhead peak coming right to you with half the Pacific Ocean in it and then having to sack up and go haha

The new generation of pipe locals are are pretty good kids, but that doesn't mean rules aren't still rules. If they stray from home the locals at that spot have the same obligation to hand out reminders.

Sea wall construction, and rising sea levels all over the island. We're losing three stretches of highway and a ton of beaches by me. It's pretty nuts.
Sea level has risen 0.3 - 0.5mm per year in the last couple decades.

Makua has always triggered me. He tries SO hard to be hawaiian that it's like an SNL pidgin sketch. I once heard him say "Hawaii" 3 different ways in one 30 minutes ASP broadcast.
