I disagree.

Those are red herrings on your part.

Here is the issue:

The libs' argument is that social separation in the short term is more effective and efficient than no social separation and letting the virus burn through the population.

I really don't know. I'm not an expert in economics or virology.

And the people who are pro let the virus kill at will who post here don't know either.

As always, I envy the certainty of the True Believers.

You probably go through life with more ease than I.
Social separation is fine. Urging it and even shaming people for not doing it is fine

Using the state to enforce it is not

I think this is pretty weird:

but the election wasn't cancelled, so that's good....I guess?
California's new rules would have eliminated this whole problem. Westminster has a recall of its city council members and due to CA's mail-in rules it was easily changed to mail in only.

Now, it's also more important to keep polls open than allow anything to be stopped for this

Why not?

It won't work if you don't get compliance.

The libertines ruin it for the society.
Why not?

Our natural rights given to us by the Constitution

Rights are dangerous, and it’s your responsibility to protect yourself, not the government’s to protect you

technically, the constitution codifies rights it asserts are god-given

Natural and god given were understood to be synonymous in 1787

And I misspoke. The constitution lays out the rights it can’t take away from us

Your support for Trump/Repubs belies your incessant virtue signaling about the Constitution

What happens when your rights to assemble infringe on the safety of others?

It's as if you are willfully denying common sense.

You’re not guaranteed safety nor are rights to assembly specifically causing danger to others, especially when they have the same right to isolate

How many thousands of spring breakers were on the beach in Florida? Did even 20 get sick? Did any die?

It feels like you are making this up as you go along.

Have you taken the big 5 personality trait test?

so you don’t think you have responsibilities to your common citizens who happen to have been born with asthma for example?

The Californias
the USA is a pragmatic culture

this belief in magical rights descended from God is absurd

when the rights lose their utility they get dialed back

sometimes temporarily, sometimes not

in this case do you really think the right to assemble will be permanently taken away?

this has happened over and over again but it’s not a big deal

why would it be any other way? We’re not a nation of philosophers
^^^This.^^^

Some people can't handle the fact that society and the ethos are constantly evolving and changing.
They want to dial the clock back to the 19th century.

Brady Sluder is ifail's favorite American philosopher.

No

It is on them to take necessary precautions for themselves. I have no responsibility to anyone except for myself and my family

"Don't hurt people, don't take their stuff" means actively hurting them. If I had a positive test, and/or symptoms, I would be actively hurting those with respiratory issues by going out in public. No issues or symptoms? Not actively hurting them. Beyond that, they need to take extra precautions for themselves such as not going out in public at all because of the added risk.
