How short can you make a glider and it still count as a glider?

I don’t have 9ft ceilings in my apartment and I hate carrying heavy things.

EC makes a mini glider that looks fun, around the 7-8 foot range. Basically, that what's a Magic is too, a shrunk down glider.

I surfed my friend's Burch glider on Sunday. It is a beautiful board no doubt, but I have to say that my EC glider blew the Burch glider away, IMHO. EC was much easier and more fun to surf and it paddled better.

As a shortboarder at heart, I almost feel guilty for how much damn fun I have on my glider. Days that otherwise aren't worth surfing I'll be catching crap tons of epic little peelers; some of my most memorable sessions, with no one else around...

I sold mine because it was, tbh, too big for a my car. Mine was the regular glider at 10'6.

Makes sense to me. I have space for a "full size" glider but the smaller mini gliders are still appealing.

Mini gliders are appealing and would be fun is small waves on a good bar but I think the barely crumbling waves require the extra length. Mine is an 11'0, paddles and glides like you wouldn't believe.

It's all about having the right board for the right conditions. This lets me surf on days I couldn't otherwise which actually helps my surfing on better days.

In places that get better, more consistent surf, maybe not, but for around here, it's all about maximizing your opportunity for surf.

7’ glider sounds amazing. Didn’t realize the magic is a mini-glider...

where i surf we usually get enough shape that I think a 10’ is overkill for someone competent enough to surf a short board.

I actually misspoke. It’s the Mabile Honey Badger. If you Google it, there are references to how the template is a shrunk down version of the Skip Frye glider.

Yeah, I just don't have the space to store a 10 or 11' board. something like an 8'6" Magic or MiniGlider like this one (which sold recently) sounds good. I've no idea about the rocker, bottoms, etc., but the outline of MiniGlider does look fairly similar to Magic...

too short? Bird has a 7’10 summer magic in the archive. I like this one better.

7'10 Mitsven Mini Glider – Mollusk Surf Shop

The mini Glider is a shorter version of the big GLIDERS of 10-12'. They keep all the fluidity and easly slide but with more accessibilty for a surfer who don't ride a big longboard. More shorter means more reactive and easy to turn when the wave are not so good.

When I rode mine the other day my buddy and I were talking about them and he said "yeah you took off and faded for the setup, then suddenly you just starting flying on what seemed like nothing, then kicked out way inside way down by the jetty... I get it, they look fun".

Anyone know why one would go for the pulled in back half svs shortened full size glider outline?

EC glider vs miniglider are like Mitsven Glider vs Magic.

i read more than one place the Mitsven stuff is easier for glider newbies coming from shorter boards.
