The $70k 4Runner is a bit of an anomaly, due to dealership supply shortages caused by chip shortages, caused by covid work stoppages.

On top of that, the new (2021) Lunar Rock color for 4Runners was so popular, it helped drive up the cost with $10k dealer markups. To find a Lunar Rock 4Runner for the past 2 years on the lot was pretty much impossible. And for at least a year, you were lucky to find ANY 4Runner on the lots. At one point, I searched CA for new 4Runners and there were 8 new ones on the lots, out of the entire state. 8! That's insane.

New 2025 4Runner is coming next year, mostly likely hit dealerships in August. Will be an all new design and completely overhauled. Look at the new Tundra and Tacoma for design cues and features.
$70k was a slight exaggeration, but high $50, low 60k easily for the orange trdpro. I think I read all the cool kids want the orange one now?

The new Tacomas are pretty sick except for the TRD weird seats and how high tech they and all the new vehicles are now. I don’t like/want big screens everywhere and everything to be wicked complicated.

For me the ultimate pick up would be a mid 90's Ford f250, totally stoke (see what I did there?), in mint condition...with a cap and racks. Something about the minimalism of them appeals to me.

My dream is to own an ex cartel stealth drug truck that someone more than likely was murdered in

Walked by one of these the other night. Bad ass looking truck and it was loaded with a ton of extras. Looked up the price on my phone and holy sh!t.

Ford Shelby Raptor - Starts at $144k

I'm so over "bad ass". It's played out. Those kind of things used to look cool to me but now it's too cliche and since the majority of owners and their uses are far from bad ass it now feels like compensation signaling or playing weekend special ops. An old truck modified for offroading still looks cool but these expensive new factory jobs have jumped the shark into cheesy territory.

You guys may have noticed the new Tacoma will still be available in a 2-door extended cab. There's a rumor that Toyota will come out with a compact pickup to compete with the Maverick, which is made by a company that doesn't offer 2-door trucks. So, there's a chance Toyota will make this new truck in 2-door ex-cab, what is essentially a modern '98-'11 Ranger XLT, the truck that used to dominate Hawaii's roads before everyone somehow stumbled into Tacoma money.

The little Toyota truck was the canefield vehicle of the 70’s-80’s. Before the Comas or Tunra. Every little old filipino man had one. Then Jim Falk came in and got a Good contract with HC&S

It’s easy to bag on truck bros for their vehicular cosplay but they’re not alone, there’s the soccer moms driving 4Runners, Jeep people/girls, One Ups overlanding LA neighbors etc. It would be a very different world if we all drove what we actually needed for transportation etc myself included (smaller truck).

Once things sort out with going back East this summer etc Ima gonna be bolting some skid plates on the bottom of my truck (engine/transfer case, gas tank and rear diff)so I don’t fuck anything crucial up and finally get around to exploring the natty forests around here. If I don’t find any lost Spanish treasures, I will at least see Sasquatch or some ufo/alien sh!t. Not stocked to run into skin walkers. They freak me the fuck out

Ah, I always wonder why every third car on Maui when I moved there in '04 was a Ranger. Still driving my white '99 base model I bought in '07.

Flew to CO for the summer yesterday and picked up my new anti-truck. At altitude this thing has less power than almost any other new car on the road, but man does it feel great to sit with your butt inches off the ground and fly around turns. I still have a Transit 150 camper in CO as well so I'm not truckless. I can fit 1 MTB in it so it's just barely useful.

As my old man would say, you can’t take it with you. Enjoy the new wheels bro. If it was me at some point in the near future I’d be spraying down everything rubber, plastic, vinyl etc with 303 protectant. This includes interior, under the hood(hoses wiring plastics) and I make sure to get underneath and drench rubber sh!t like the cv boots. Now my new thing is rust prevention and I’ve been crawling underneath my truck hitting everything with Fluid Film spray bro.

Speaking of trucks, I always thought this one was pretty fly

Note- same size bed!

In the big one you can't get anything out of the bed without a ladder or physically climbing in the bed.

Me Bruh had a 76 Hilux. Wish we had that still. I had an 86 Toy. Drove it from Denver to Dana Point . Sold it for more than I bought it for in a couple hours.

Those little Yota's are the bomb for making dump or quick grocery store runs. Going to sell my Subaru Forrester reluctantly and need something that can haul stupid chit that I own and want to throw away.
