If they cared about making warm suits they never would have stopped. It does look like Isurus is using smooth skin again, and makes me curious?
Hard to speak for right coasters but 30 degree southern CA or even Central is different then 30 degree East coast and I am not talking about Hawiian scale talkin' pure snow on beach no sun.mmm, ok.
Wore my 4/3 recently in 30 degree air with stiff offshores and 50 degree water and was over heating.
mutant was on my list as my next one.. need to refill my wetuit quiver moving from thickest downI'm in the same boat switching from Xcel. Picked up a 4/3 Hyperfreak yesterday. Last one in my size. I wanted a Psycho One, but I'll take what I can get right now. Tried on a Mutant Legacy, but was not into it.

LOl I feel that with Xcel! Had a couple with the same problem. I actually liked the suits but that was annoying. My only concern is coming from wearing O'Neills in the 80s/90s that they were a little tight in the crotch. I always speculated the Jack O'Neill lost more than his eye.
I’m not aware of any time in history when you couldn’t buy an Isurus with smooth skin.If they cared about making warm suits they never would have stopped.
Good pointIf they cared about making warm suits they never would have stopped.
I had two 4/3's a few years ago, that were basically the same stretchy material, like an O'nell Psycho 1, but probably not as warm.I’m not aware of any time in history when you couldn’t buy an Isurus with smooth skin.
That’s what I recently started wearing unless it’s really cold.First surf in the Hyperfreak today and it felt fantastic. Super stretchy and warm. I'm a convert.
in consistent short period stuff...quite possible. Before or after you kicked Mike Tyson’s ass?
What happened to the tachnoblubber being the best suit ever? That’s what I recently started wearing unless it’s really cold.
Then I switch to the Isurus which is not as flexible but way warmer.
Does feral use the same Yamamoto (#40 or whatever) rubber on the thicker suits? I imagine the low water absorption would make it warmer than other rubberTheir pricing model is actually pretty weird too; I'd consider them a bit expensive for a 3/2 or 4/3, but their 5/4 and 6/5/4 are a steal compared to the other similar suits on the market.
Based on their website they use the #40 yamamoto, not that I could tell you anything about what that means other than that seems to be the gold standard for wetsuit rubber.Does feral use the same Yamamoto (#40 or whatever) rubber on the thicker suits? It is. But it’s not as warmWhat happened to the tachnoblubber being the best suit ever?
Interesting. They don’t talk much about the rubber other than mentioning low absorption. Two choices:
1. Isurus, as started by Jim B but know he's no longer there.
OR
2. Jim's new company since he split with Isurus: Winterleaf Wetsuits. www.winterleaf.surf
Same great guy, new great company.
