wife wants to take the kids, luckily one is under 3 years old. Looking at about $500 for two adults one childs ticket peak season. Doesn't include parking. That is a lot to be stuck in a huge crowd all day. I guess what wife wants wife gets - I am learning. LOL

Absolutely crazy. Just as expensive as you'd expect (maybe more) once you get in the park. Once inside, it is absolute hell and a madhouse of inept dawdlers (like Saturday at Costco but with strollers and 20 IQ points lower). Oh and you'll spend 30 minutes waiting for your kids to take pictures with Mickey Mouse only to have them cry in fear once they get to front of the line.

If you can sell the wife on it, your kids will have just as much fun, if not more, at Adventure City (http://www.adventurecity.com/) a few miles to the west. Much cheaper (free parking and only $22 entry fee), minimal wait times for rides, and with a shitton less riff-raff. Smaller park but if you have young kids, that's a good thing. Sure the rides aren't as big but if your kids are young, they can't go on the big rides at the other theme parks anyways.

thanks for that. I'll check it out. Yeah, last time it was universal studios for harry potter. it was complete madness, we were herded around like cattle. I lost it at some point and said we are getting the f out of here. luckily wife agreed.

I'm in a bit of trouble with the wife right now, so logic and reasoning probably isn't going to work.

Bring your own food!

If you're going now (christmas season), expect mucho crowds. Pretty sure it slows down after Christmas, so January could be a way to at least escape some of the crowd.

Logic and reasoning are kryptonite with emotion-driven women. Actually, it just pisses them off further and gets you deeper into the doghouse.

I haven't been to Universal Studios (and have no desire to) but yeah, that sounds like the Disneyland madness.

Oh for sure. I probably won't bring up adventure city - I sent her a link to the disneyland tickets page, if the prices don't deter her looks like we're going.

My uncle had a cane for an injury at Disneyland and he and his entire family were escorted straight to the front of every line. Disney seems to take care of handicapped. Bring a cane?

I go every other year for a conference. Wife wanted to go last time. Even on a rainy Saturday in the middle of fall, it was still a madhouse.

Yeah, just keep it as a backup plan if she balks at the Disneyland prices. Then you can say, well there's this other place I heard about...

Like Littlewave said, bring your own food and water. Make sure the water is in unopened bottles and then just fill up at drinking fountains. This will save you some serious $$$$$.

Bring noise-canceling headphones for the It's a Small World ride which you will undoubtedly find yourselves on. Hearing that song over and over again will erode your sanity. And there is nowhere around where you can get a beer or doubleshot of 151 to ease the pain.

No beer inside the old park. There is beer at California Adventure and downtown Disney.

If you can at least find a weekday outside of the holiday weeks, you could save yourself a marginal amount of headache.

I think there is supposed to be one private club that serves it (probably $15 for a Keystone Light given similar prices) but it's dry. Which is crazy because that's the place you need booze the most. Covertly downing some edibles before you walk in is a viable strategy. Adventure City is same way but the whole atmosphere there is a lot more tolerable and doesn't resemble a Chinese wave pool.

Knott's Berry Farm does have beer sold in several places throughout the park. That was much better than Disneyland. Took my kids there this fall for a birthday and it was much more chill than Disneyland. Some lines but nothing horrible. Longest I waited was 20 minutes. There's a whole area there (Camp Snoopy) devoted to rides for young kids.

Oh man she’s all in. Suggested the 19th which is the last off peak day and no response. Her birthday is at the end of December.
