Still plenty of places to get a wave by yourself.For a while this past year I was constantly pissed off at all the covid kooks after every session. Turns out when the waves arrive it doesn't matter anymore - surfing in SoCal is still a good time. Choosing (semi) closed out beach break helps.

solid south bay is always so fun until a big closeout set (well, more closeout than the others) comes along and ruins my daysouth bay = when the waves get better - its less crowded. when it starts throwing, the parking lot stays busier than the water.
