Underground Storage Tank Fee - $0.02
Sales tax 2.25% - keep in mind you pay sales tax on the base price and you pay it on the price of the other taxes including federal ($0.184)
Add in the special blends, taxes on transport and expensive environmental regulations...

This old Venice dude grabbed a ride, stopped up in Ventura County past thee last harbor, circa 2015/2016
and got some gas, under $2.00 then, before Donnie lost thee popular vote BUT became our pres anywayz...

I am pretty sure we all agree CA needs about a 75% reduction in population. Maybe this is the long game to achieve that via survival of the fittest. California gas prices are high because of taxes and refinement standards. Which is why gas is a dollar cheaper in Hawaii, Oregon etc and even $2/Gallon less in some states.
Get rid of those standards, and we can buy the same gas as the rest of the country.
And we would breath the same shitty air as the rest of the country.

Riverside, Fresno and Bakersfield stink too. Overall volume of cars and topography have a far higher impact on air pollution than the composition of the gasoline itself.
The point is that when only a handful of refineries can make your gas, which also requires special ingredients and refinement processes, you have to pay more and you are more susceptible to sudden price increases. For Governor Newsom to "investigate" when the answer is right in front of his face is laughable.
Not to mention the new gas tax that is already being diverted away from road construction, as predicted by many here.
SoCal refineries conveniently going offline due to "maintenance" at the same time of world oil events cutting local supply and driving up local gas prices on top world oil prices
So nnow the problem is, if Californica drops its regulations and taxes it will be bad.
What happened to your contention that corporations are causing bad prices?
