I was there on June 22....day after the longest fricken' bus ride from Liverpool.
It was such a madhouse, I ended up sleeping like a degenerate near the train aqueduct style trestle over the botanical gardens.
Next day, fell in with some South Africans on leave who got me a place in the surfer's hostel...finder fee payment was a round of cider. There were 8 of 'em. I learned then not to try to keep up drinking with soldiers on leave. Am sure there were at least 7 pints after my first, but am certain only about the next 4 or so.

Yeah I quickly learned not to try to drink with Brits and Aussies.
I'm glad my beer drinking days are behind me.
