Native Americans didn't own anything in the sense that the Bruce Family did. They occupied the land, then various entities (largely White Euros, but some exceptions) "legally" (sometimes) got it out from under them by contract. When said contract didn't work, or before said contract was drawn, removal was by force. I'm not in anyway implying that it was acceptable or humane - I'm implying that it is different and to equate the two is to make a false equivalency. Stay with me.
This family owned the property by all legal measures from what I understand and the city forced them out of it. This isn't reparations in the grand scale. It's a pushback on what sounds like a poorly performed and racist eminent domain case.
