Return the land and lease it back from the family of the original owners who were harassed and unlawfully forced out. Manhattan Beach gets to keep its park and lifeguard training HQ and the family gets a huge check every month.

I know that park. I got a parking ticket next to it for not having my front tires turned toward the curb. Nice modern car in 1st gear with parking brake set. No way was it gonna roll anywhere. Never paid the ticket.

It's funny how no one wants to talk about reparations for American Indians. I guess the bill would be way too high.

I know some California Indians who will apparently soon be owning all the coastal real estate from Big Sur through Santa Cruz. :shaka:
My first thought as well. Pretty sure Indians owned most of the CA coastline back the day.

Second thought was legal precedence and the number of people that might come forward with claims.

I have to assume you al are smarter than this.

Native Americans didn't own anything in the sense that the Bruce Family did. They occupied the land, then various entities (largely White Euros, but some exceptions) "legally" (sometimes) got it out from under them by contract. When said contract didn't work, or before said contract was drawn, removal was by force. I'm not in anyway implying that it was acceptable or humane - I'm implying that it is different and to equate the two is to make a false equivalency. Stay with me.

This family owned the property by all legal measures from what I understand and the city forced them out of it. This isn't reparations in the grand scale. It's a pushback on what sounds like a poorly performed and racist eminent domain case.
