Went to the Westside. Had some size but not huge. Very inconsistent. Ended up not getting wet. Clear skies and light winds.

On the cams North Shore looks huge and unruly.

North Shore is huge but as pretty as it gets. When I pulled into the parking lot the crowd was way outside, the jet skis were 400 yards off to the side and the channel was gone. I just missed a big set. Since then it's been 12 to 18 with spitting barrels. Debating if I should float or not.

could have the Eddie gone? thought they were having it this year and the waiting period started?
Looking at the charts, it looks like the peak of this big swell will be very short lived. Looks like it will drop to half size by tomorrow for Hawaii.

Pipe cam is looking big with 2nd reef going and nobody out.

Hawaii

"At Maverick's, the models are predicting the first forerunners to arrive during Wednesday, with tiny wave heights initially but periods of up to 28 secs – which will be hardly detectable. However, wave heights gradually ramp up with the bulk of the swell arriving on Thursday. Expect wave heights locally to hit 20 feet on Thursday afternoon, with periods of around 18 secs, before steadily ramping down through Friday. Winds will be mostly light or very light and from a northerly quarter throughout."

I'd say the sets are very close to Eddie size, I don't know how long it will last but it may still get bigger. Just seen a guy get a beauty but there is at least 40 guys out. Another guy just got barreled! 5 skis inside the white water looking for something. I'm not at Waimea.

Caldwell said the storm is moving towards California, usually for Eddie you need it moving directly at Waimea.
Winds supposed to be offshore tomorrow. Shaping up to be an epic day up and down the CA coastline. Swell from this direction will light up all the super protected spots. I'm already salivating.

Checked Potty and OB Overview cams. Better than Jax Pier today but not showing any boom boomers just yet.

OB cam's horizon is crooked to the point it looks like we live on the inside of a sphere, not the outside. Paging Bohter, and not just for a ride to the Ranch or some RinseKit water at El Cap.

You dont have covid kooks in your area or what? Guaranteed its going to be chaos with all these clowns experiencing some swell for the first time endangering themselves and people around them:socrazy:only hope i have left is they realize that cant wavestorm in solid surf and sit out the remainder of the big days

830AM Stood roadside above the jump rock, shot pics for about 90 minutes. Too many people, sets were s l o w and waves not big enough, at that time anyway. Pretty sure the good stuff was @ outer reefs a few miles away. guys feet under the lip in the first shot.

Guy in the 3rd shot second from right going left?

I generally have found the first significant winter swell direction to be a good time to stay dry and do something else.

I wouldn't worry about noobs during big swell events. The current and whitewater won't even allow them to get outside probably, even at the smaller spots.

Our problem is we have only a handful of spots that can hold a swell of this size and direction. Half the spots are for big wave specialists only and the other half will be packed throughout the day.

And a decent amount of guys from here always hit the road to Santa Barbara area during big swell events.

I still get frothy for waves though, no matter what.
