L5/S1 would be priority @waxfoot. That's great you can get it done so quickly - private health insurance? I got fairly comprehensive insurance coz I have a habit of messing myself up with extreme sports and the socialist state doesn't prioritise non essential rehab. I'm going to enjoy a fine glass of Pepperjack Barossa valley wine now :D I wish you an excellent recovery.
Public.

My workmate who has private is spending 15k out of pocket for hers, I’m not paying a cent. The guy operating on me, is the head of neurosurgery at Brisbane Mater.

When did they make this change exactly?

"They" has been accepted as singular for unknown gender for hundreds of years. Check the OED for reference.

MLA is a bunch of bureaucratic language Nazi's.
I was taught forever in grammar and style that they is never acceptable as singular. You were supposed to use the clunky "he or she"

Better to rephrase the sentence or use a plural noun as the antecedent.

"He or she" is the last resort.

Funny how that is not good enough.

I like "s/he"

It's a tip of the hat to the non gender people and is still a singular pronoun.

Actually, it might, if it follows normal viral evolution.
So far we have no precedent for a similar pandemic so whatever is "normal" may not apply here.

The one thing is for sure - it's not following the pattern of flu, it's airborne, and it's extremely contagious.

So far it looks like this is far from over.

At this stage of the pandemic, I'd be a bit pissed. In Spring/Summer 2020 I was willing to let sh!t slide. But we have a full winter of this thing, it kills less than 1%, and the vaccine has been available to all for months.

With respect to the land border with the Alabama and Georgia, it's an empty threat. Pensacola, Tallahassee, and Jacksonville are all within a relatively easy commute of the Florida border, and there are some towns just on the other side that people are driving in from every day to work. But the inverse is nowhere near as common.
If the vaccine has been available for months I would be losing my patience too. That's the difference between the US and Oz, you have had a successful vaccine rollout, we are way behind.

This interview with Dr Fauci appeared on Aus national broadcaster where he is able to share some experiences which might help us.

Seems to be luck of the draw. The Alfred hospital is just up the road from Melbourne city skatepark. I have presented myself there, been patched up and sent on my way. Another time been given excellent physiotherapy follow up.

So, like lots of other corona viruses?

No precedent, no exact analogue, sure, but lots of precedents.

aren't you worried @freeride76 ? Newcastle/Hunter locked down, Sydney just recorded their worst day, Melbourne has community infection cases starting and we don't have enough vaccine. Not that vaccine will stop all serious illness/death, but it is our only chance of opening up the economy. The amount of people not working now and struggling with business is huge.

edit --> Armidale NSW north tablelands will lock down this evening. Virus came from Newcastle.
