from Oregon, now SD
Chomping at the bit, Gannets were diving yesterday, any day now.
I went out to Dixon on foot last weekend and got skunked with my fly rod. Thinking I might go to one of the Santee lakes Sunday morning and give that a try.

I really don't like having to pay to fish, but don't see much alternative.

My son and his friends have good luck with C&R at the local golf courses. Nighttime only and don't get caught. You should hook (pun semi intended) with the old guys that fly fish Blacks at dawn most mornings. Unless you plan on a hike in the mountains, you will be paying to fish the local lakes.

Golf courses have excellent fishing, my parents used to have a place in SW FL and all of the lakes connected to a tidal river. Baby tarpon, snook and largemouth at same time with same flies.

Just spent 4 days in Loreto for my brother-in-law's 50th and we did a quick trip yesterday morning before leaving in the afternoon. We caught 12 yellowtail in all. We ended up giving 10 to the captain who took us out, then cut up the other 2 and brought them up to the restaurant and had them prepare a lunch for our group before leaving.

Well, I guess that answers my question on the Bird & Nature post.
Congrats on the nice yellows.
Wish I was going down with my friends next week but instead I'm headed up to Oregon on Thursday to another friend's place for some Spring King action on the Willamette.

Had been a tough spring saltwater wise, very inconsistent, tide dependent, after dark bite which I hate. Had been having fun harassing the local largemouths. All changed last night, had a worn hatch behind my place, got a few 30 inchers on the flyrod.

Where at in the pine barrens? There’s some honey holes loaded with fish and lots of memories.

hey mundus - it’s localized but fishing is pretty good. Tuna in close. 462lb BFT came into beach haven this weekend. Long time local family to s jersey and lbi keeping the family tradition going.

More than a couple have come in last few days, possible return of the historic NJ giant Bluefin fishery?

Without checking I think they are an extreme deepwater species. Quite an unusual find :jamon:
