I'm in possession of my old 4th Gen again

that 4 liter 1GRFE might actually be as rock solid dependable as my 3.4 liter 5VZFE

but.... we're all going to have to drive another couple of decades and another 300,000 miles before we will know for sure

lets go!

If you own a Toyota and have 100k miles or more (100k-1mil) miles on ODO, please send an email to Toyota_Social@toyota.com request a free windows cling with a picture of the odometer. Toyota will reply with a link to request for free windows cling.

My buddy has had his 4.7 2UZ-FE 04 Runner since new. It's another bulletproof legendary motor that will last forever. I guess we all check in at 1/2 million miles

I love Toyotas but I’m skeptical of the switch to turbo 4 cyl and hybrids for longevity. Currently have a 2012 and 2019Tundra (older is a work truck). Tempted to trade the newer Tundra for the last year 4 runner before they go hybrid turbo 4 cyl or whatever.

That being said I would be surprised Toyota would risk tarnishing their name putting out anything called a Landcruiser that won’t make it 500k.

The 1grfe v6 is a nice motor. mine has about 100k, owned it since new.

Also have a t24a-fts (4cyl turbo), not a bad motor so far (tbd…), and it crushes the 1grfe in terms of daily driving power availability and trips over the grapevine.

that said, the 1grfe is heaps more fun when you smash the skinny pedal. could be more about the transmission differences, however.

when I told the dealership I had an 11yr old Tacoma with the 1grfe and 5spd, they pretty much illuded to the fact it will likely out live my brand new highlander’s engine. Lol.

Been looking for an old Taco or 4Runner for my grom. A buddy just told me he’s gonna sell his ‘08 V8 4Runner. Pretty sure that‘s the same set up as the older Lexus GX. Any opinions on the V8? Obviously fuel economy is sh!t but….

That's the indestructible 4.7 we were talking about earlier. As long as you change the timing belt every 100k miles it will last forever

V8 4th Gens are a holy grail
