Same question for me, also wondering MIni Paddiliac vs Ghost in 6'2 or 6'4 as EC barrel board.
I think it most definitely makes sense.

I found one of the better explanations of the difference between the Ghost and MIni padi (for me) was on the Australian pyzel IG, as I was geeking out one early a.m.
Check the question and answer in the comments. I found pyzelau's answer (about outline, sweet spot, etc) to be accurate.

Size wise, i think it's gonna be personal preference. The tail of the mini padi is pretty narrow and foiled out, so I would think the smaller MPs will be for younger lighter rippers.
Full disclosure, I've felt up some ghosts ( they feell good) but have not surfed one, so can only comment on the mini padi. Best if you can lay hands on both cause they're pretty different, but I know that's not possible for everyone.
I also like weird boards so take that into account too
