Yeah, that looked like trash.
But I can imagine something worse. Bad Boys going with the original cast of Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey instead of Will Smith and Martin Lawrence.

I think what got to some people about ghostbusters is remaking an existing movie. it’s a lazy cop out with the sole purpose of scoring woke points without having to do the actual work of coming up with something unique.
Marvel movies are the same thing. No creativity required, no development of new characters and story lines, just license the Marvel name and character and it will be a hit. Even if it’s garbage.
I end up liking some of them, but I understand the frustration of film industry people who do the hard work of creating and marketing something new that is actually good.
And yet it worked just fine for Brewster's Millions with Richard Pryor. But yes, everything is a sequel, prequel, Marvel, remake, etc. Nothing I find really all that intriguing in the theaters (of which said experience sucks lately)
Chocki said it right above - Hollywood only cares about green. They'll take whatever stance and produce whatever schlock just to keep the money rolling in. I am already dreading the release of Frozen 3. People don't care - they just want a shiny object. Last Jedi wasn't even that shiny. Horribly cheesy with extremely sloppy storytelling; I am glad I didn't pay anything to see it - it almost made the Dark Tower movie attempt look good.
Nothing in society has ever really improved by giving the purseholders a say in anything beyond providing money. Think about it: Has a movie ever been improved by studio input?
BTW, Keira Knightley is still safe. The ocean is honoring her well right now.
