I've surfed the Ulladulla spot, and Deadman's is about 15 min from my place. I've surfed the reefs next to it many times, but never Deadies itself.
Ulladulla: HPSB works fine for me out there.
"Deadmans": most people ride pintailed slab boards out there. And it doesn't go into deep water - there is a short section of deep water with another slab just down the line. It's probably a bit too heavy for mere mortals to ride a Ghost out there.

Ws referring to Ulladulla when referencing the ghost , pretty sure Maz was too. No thanks on tombstones if it looks like that video! I would be on a giant board with flotation and a helmet 
Thread drift, sorry: Re flotation and helmet, I bought a Rip Curl impact vest, but never really used it. Should have, though, as I've broken ribs twice just from water impact on bigger days.

The Ulladulla spot would be great on a ghost. It is pretty exposed and can hold very solid waves.
