Skateboarding was incredibly weak; the Bones Brigade could have swept the medals without difficulty.
Sorta how I felt. I get the top guys often do a bunch of tries before a make (or sometimes do link a bunch of gnarly stuff) but you can watch way more impressive skating uploaded daily on YT, IG etc.

Biggest shocker: Half white guy won 100m sprint
Jacobs won the 100m in a slow 9.80 seconds, which is 0.22 seconds slower than Bolt's WR 9.58.

In the high jump, Barshim, Tamberi, and Nedasekau all cleared 2.37m (7' 9.3") which is 3 inches short of the world record of 2.45m (8' 0.46") set by Sotomayor in 1993.

Tomorrow, Aug 3rd, is pole vault. Duplantis is the only vaulter that has cleared 20 feet this season. Can he improve on his WR of 6.18m (20' 3.3") ? That is a tall order. Only 2 other people ever vaulted higher than 20 feet, Bubka and LaVillenie.

:(

But she turned that frown upside down!!

I was on a flight once (late 80's, early 90's) and these two guys were sitting next to me. They were Russian (Eastern European). A a certain point there was an exchange with the stewardess and they kept referring to one of the guys as "she/her." I was a bit puzzled and then noticed the tiny boobs. She was basically a guy with a teenagers boobs on her chest. WTF?

So, yeah, same as it ever was...

Duplantis still dominates pole vault and takes the gold medal with a vault of 6.02m (19' 9") which he cleared by about a foot. He is the only vaulter to clear 20 feet earlier this year. It looked like he could have cleared 20' 6" easily. When he tried to improve his WR to 6.19m (20' 3.7") he came very close. It looks like he either brushed the bar with an arm or chest, on the way down. After he landed on the cushion, then the cross bar had vibrated off the standards, and fell behind him. He will probably improve his world record, sooner or later.

Anyone know of a Youtube of the entire pole vault competition, or about the last hour or 2 of it ?

I prioritized mental health and won 3 gold medals in the Tokyo Olympics between 2am and 6am while sleeping.

Most disapointing? Womyn's skateboaring.
Sure, they're way better than I. But still, a footplant is a move? Tony Hawk 1981 would've blown them out. The Japanese ladies at least had good style.

Sydney McLaughlin's world record in the 400 meter hurdles was pretty epic. She shaved almost half a second off the world record time she ran in the Olympic trials in order to get gold. That's hard to do.
