I'll repost my question from another thread...

Those who have Tomos... are they replacing your normal boards?
I was pretty much just riding a twin keel fish before I got my V3. I got it to have something to ride when the surf is better, but I took it out on a knee high, onshore day, and haven't picked up my fish since. The board goes fast on pretty much anything, is really predictable, and I can fit in a lot more turns than I could with the fish. I also couldn't believe how easy it is to get into waves on this board. I'm 5'8 and over 185, the Tomo is 5'7" x 19 1/2" x 2 5/8", and I'm catching waves at a much higher % than I was on my fish (or my old 5'8" Biscuit). Even on good days the surf is pretty bad here, but so far the MPH has just been a lot more fun to ride.
+1

Took advantage of the Christmas time special Daniel had and got a 5'8 x 20 1/4 x 2 3/4 Nano. At 6 '2, 206lbs I was suprised at how easy I can catch waves with the board. This board is more responsive than any other board I have ever owned. If you haven't ridden a Tomo surfboard, you need to. They look sick and ride insane.
Where are you located? Would love to hook up for a session
and trade boards. I'm your same size and would like to try
that board out.

i have to agree with the above. my v3 may be the most responsive board i've ever owned and maybe even the closest thing to a 1 board quiver. i've actually been trying to surf other boards lately and i keep switching back mid-session to the v3. it's really fast down the line, so much so that i don't feel like i'm putting much effort to get speed. does really tight turns, and fits a few more turns on a wave than i get out of my other boards. i love this thing. at 5'7 19 1/2 x 2 7/16 it's a relatively small board for my height and weight so when the waves are on, it feels and surfs like a hpsb. on a steep wave it picks up the energy quick where i think i'm only taking 2-4 strokes and i'm in. when the waves are less than ideal/weak/sloped, etc it will catch waves easier than my grovelers. i don't understand it. the board is completely under water when i'm paddling around, but it moves through the water and catches waves with ease. maybe the combination of volume under the chest, rocker and concave. all i know is it all works. i'm hooked

I'm in the North OC. I don't really know much about board design, but the hard edge on the rail runs a lot higher on my Nano. Might not mean anything, but no other board I've had had that going for it.

Very indepth description mate.
I don't suppose you have thrown a rocker stick at it? Just to see if the rocker is deceptively low perhaps?? The shortness of length would help keep it loose I guess. perhaps the board is a rocket just by virtue of the fact the rocker is relatively low, nose and tail.
How deep is the concave, by the way? i have heard no reports of a 'sticky' or 'tracking' board even though the rail lines are so parallel (relatively).
Cheers

Anyone got any advice on which mph to get for south shore oahu? Tomo recommended the V3 which I am down for. I am considering getting a second board from him since shipping one board in a big box that fits two boards does not make sense to me Might as well order two boards since I am paying for shipping.

I am torn in getting a psyko or nano. Really dig a 5-fin conv set-up for options. Thoughts?

Super excited to get another set of Tomos. In discussion with him now and he is recommending a 5'9 x 20 1/2" x 2 5/8" mph v3. I am 6'2" and 205lb.
thanks in advance

I weigh about the same as you albeit shorter and I would get dims somewhere in that range.

nkpheous' board is TINY. I'll let him chime in more

did chu ride it? man, that board I wanna try big time!!
We ran out of time but he was saying that it is amazing how well it catches waves for how small it is and how far underwater he sits on it

airboy, you should talk to sakana kid. he's on the south shore and has a v3. a psyko or nano would be a good compliment to the v3. i have a psyko on the way with channels, 5 fin option and powerdrive fins to run as a quad. at tomo's suggestion i went with the psycho for hollow waves. the v3 already works good for that and the psyko is supposed to be even better in those conditions so i'm looking forward to getting this. the v3 is 5'7 19.5 x 2 7/16 and the pysko is going to be 5'7 19 x 2 7/16. he told me by going narrower the outline is straightened and in effect lengthens the rail line. good for punchy waves. these little boards are amazing and so much fun. i can't reccommend them enough.

don't be afraid to go short on these. he suggested about nose level or shorter. i'd like to try a 5'5 vector someday

does any body have a v3 as thick & wide as the one in the demo photo?looks like 24'' wide?
that nano in the background looks sick!! so does that pointy nose transition thruster. guys got some skillz yo!
V3 in the shot is 5'3" x 18 3/4" x 2 " (photo is deceptive)
Nano in the background is 5'4" x 18 1/2" x 2 1/8" (board is for sale if anyone is interested)
Gun is 6'6"x 18" x 2 1/8"

Dan.

Along with Stretch's balsa gun, and Ward Coffey's works of art LB's,
I thought Dan's boards were the "must see" of Sacred Craft.
