Ready for this? If I were Bush, I would have done the same thing.

When you start buzzing American planes in international airspace, you should probably expect some sort of response, and this seems appropriate.

So who's provoking who over there? We run our "annual" war games -- they claim they are a prelude to war. We fly spy planes off their coast -- they shadow them with fighters and lock on targeting radar. They test launch missiles -- we send B-52's within reach of their shores.

This is getting just plain stupid. It's a stare-down: Who'll blink first?

It's odd, but the posturing going on with N. Korea seems to be more of a traditional Cold War back and forth, doesn't it?

it seems that Bush is fine to let diplomacy be his main tool in N. Korea (in direct opposite of how he's handling Iraq), but the placement of bombers isn't much more than a flexing of muscles.

Of course, there was that absolutely brilliant "Axis of Evil" thing that got this party started...

I do feel truly sorry for you lot. That Bush guy is a class 1 prick who will do as much damage to the environment and world peace as he possibly can. Rumsfeld sucks too.
Can't you lot just vote the bastards out? Hoe did they get in government in the first place?
You need to be seriously stupid to vote for that knob-head!

not like any of you care, but i was watching something on the history channel about a month ago. the B-52 is an amazing piece of military machinery. official sources say this plane will continue to be a vital part of the air force until something like 2050. that's about a hundred year lifespan. pretty impressive.

My best freinds father wasa b-52 pilot and Igotto go in one when they were at a PR navy base. That was in the mid eighties and they were old then. It is truly amazing they just put new engines on new avianoics and they give the plane a new lease on life. The designers really didn't plan on the plane being upgradeable to the degree it has been but they planned it from get go to be a survivor. They have become sybolic for longevity and durability and they are still as intimidating as ever.

Crust, I said don't get me started! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="images/icons/wink.gif" />

SurferX, I'm with you. In a world where the Pentagon pays $1400 for a toilet seat, and the space shuttle cracks up because of cheap epoxy, you've got to appreciate the longevity and performance of the B-52.
They ended the war in Bosnia!
