People always talk about long waves being thigh burners but every big wave surfer will tell you hamstrings are key. Hamstrings allow you to hold and stabilize your legs during dynamic pressure in a bent at the knee position.you never know until you are hurt - but amazing how much force shoots up your back leg on bottom turns
over did it yesterday surfed all day got a few good ones but should have have a few lifetime tubes but ankle was in my head paddling for a few 8- 10 ft drainers
6-8 today going to surf today then call it quits for a week or so
surfed it with max 8 people yesterday
unbelievable
Ice has some analgesic effect but it will likely inhibits healing to the same degree that it will provide comfort.with going through the healing process from a torn Achilles:
1) don't let the leg be inactive too long.
2) ice and elevate when it acts up.
3)wrap when needed
3 )massage work wonders
4)hot water soaks
5) it all sucks
I broke mine in 2 places when I was 17 same crap 8 weeks off. I had to work my a$$ off to surf again and even had to relearn to walk.Yeah, buddy of mine broke his ankle about 20 years ago and they put it in a cast for 6 weeks. Big mistake.
20 years later and still not at full range of motion.
Yeah, I’m guessing thoughI agree.Ice has some analgesic effect but it will likely inhibits healing to the same degree that it will provide comfort.
Tolerable activity and time are your options. Alieve for pain management.
Feet have so many nerves. Post surgical pain management for feet is tougher than any other body part.Yeah, I’m guessing thoughI agree.
It seems to be a back and forth -get the swelling down, rest it and then stretch and strengthen again. And has been a slow curve of lessoning of burning and achy pain.
you lose so much so quickly by being inactive. When I first started to put weight in my foot, everything hurt though lack of use: arch, calve, knee. Had to learn to walk again.
RICE hadn’t been relevant in years. Ice and compression do not increase healing….decrease it actually. Rest and protection are a ticket to s long recovery.RICE—
Rest
Ice
Compression
and Elevation
Rest. Rest and protect the injured or sore area.
Healing yes but right after first 24 hours helps with swelling.RICE hadn’t been relevant in years. Ice and compression do not increase healing….decrease it actually. Rest and protection are a ticket to s long recovery.
