Nice to hear Wayne Santos (RIP) mentioned. Always appreciated his craftsmanship reflected in his shaping.

Those were interesting times. Only tried one of the heavy Mctavish V-bottoms for a day and found that the person who was nudging me into the mini guns directed me in the right direction for me. Lahaina Surf Designs was quite the era on Maui.Fun living thru that era
A major shaper called McTavish an idiot for making these - that shaper went straight into mini guns - they became good freinds
I was seriously dying watching this, they trashed it so hard. My wife actually stopped what she was doing to watch and said “why do they hate it so much?” So yeah, I’d say Bird was probably pretty sad.
