I'm not getting the hype.
A few slimeball surfers decide to become standard drug smugglers.
The only thing I noticed:
They seemed to keep hinting about Gerry Lopez. What's that about?

I agree- it was much more tame that I expected. There was a lot of chatter around it at first . . .. Unless the original version got dumbed down
The good drug smugglers, we don't know anything about them. They were very successful, left the business before getting caught and have enjoyed very nice lives for many decades now in Hawaii, Bali, Brasil, Uruguay, Peru and on their yachts.
We know their names, but not what they did or how they did it -
