The operator/poster seems to be making a case that the fisherman was the douche.

News flash to drone operators - lots of people just don't like to be filmed without their consent, even in public places where such filming is legal. It is rude, and those who do it ought not express surprise when people react accordingly.

The dude has not acquainted himself with the 'pier culture'. Now he's all butt-hurt, quoting federal aviation regulations.
Most of those guys are out there to get away from crap like that drone...sky, sea, a little dinner if he's lucky.
Besides, I've seen fishermen act like surfers when another fisherman gets too close if he's catching fish. Clipped lines, crossed lines, fisticuffs.
Get in their way, catch a sinker, paddle too close, catch a sinker, fly overhead, catch a sinker.

Simple, stay out of range.

If some dimwit was to send one for several passes over and around your house, would shooting it down with a sling shot be considered as reacting accordingly? Just checking. :smile2:

Who do these drony's sell the footy to? Is it just nature spank bank stuff, or is there a market for "never seen before" footage of daily life? Kaser_1 must be getting some awesome stuff of nubile sunbathers, in their backyards, while seeking privacy. Is Maui the new Hollywood?

They have cell signal blockers that render cell phones inoperable. They're highly illegal to use but as time goes on I would think there'd be a big market for counter-drone measures. Disrupt the signal and let the auto-return features do their thing.

i could see drones being pretty useful as shark surveillance on reunion island.. seems like a cheap option if they can be automated to "monitor" a certain area

yeah but 99% of the amateur drone "pilots" are Kuno narcissistic types that don't care about public safety. similar to why GoPro's are so popular

i was thinking of a program where you enter coordinates and it flies to it and runs transects while delivering video to a fat security guard individual that eats donuts, or massive amounts of ceviche? while keeping an eye on the screen for threatening shark near area of interest.

obligatory stu dog shrug

There have been recent encounters between drones and rescue personal responding to emergencies. Drones that fly over forest fires to 'get the shot' are grounding key air support for the fires. Supposedly, these drones are getting within a few hundred feet of rescue planes and helicopters. There were incidents at large airports of pilots reporting seeing drones too close.

So, great cast, but didn't boat the fcker! :jam_on: :shaka:
