Gun control has worked wonders in Mexico.
Ever wonder where they get them from?
Austria? Germany? Italy? Brazil?....is their fault that Mexicans never figured out how to build a gun?

Oh and don't forget Russia, Kalashnikov's still a fave with Mexican Freedom Fighters + that Wolf ammo is so gnarly they won't even let you use it at most ranges!

Some laws are necessary.

I don't however think it's necessary to pass a law that one must have a gun, I was merely commenting on the higher gun ownership/lower crime rate connection.

.
85% of homicides in America are committed with a gun. Second only to Colombia.
Is it because we don't have enough guns?

What weapon should 85% of homicides be committed with? Are baseball bats preferable?

Apparently knives are popular too. I personally prefer the "other methods", it's so much more respectful to the victim than a gunshot wound.

I say we agitate for a law requiring that at least 85% of homicides be committed by "other methods".

.
factually incorrect. U.S. states with lowest rates of gun ownership also have the lowest rates of gun violence. The numbers aren't even close.

Brilliant!

I bet that states with the lowest rate of car ownership also have the lowest rates of automobile accidents too huh!

This might also explain why people who do not own bathtubs very rarely die in bathtubs.

Where they're made is of little importance. It's all about where and how they're purchased and where they end up that's the problem.

Factually incorrect yourself .... I was not comparing gun ownership with gun violence, i was comparing gun ownership with crime.

Keep in mind also that not all gun violence is criminal.

Sharpen up !

Exactly, the comment is both obviously correct and misleading at the same time.

CS, that's the point he is making. More guns, more gun deaths.More bathtubs, more bathtub deaths. It's not misleading.

no. the gun facilitates, exacerbates, and simplifies the process of killing. The statistics apply to general crime rates. Hawaii and New York are good examples. Tough gun laws and low gun ownership = lower crime rates. A bystander was in fact armed during the Arizona tragedy and it did not prevent what happened, in fact he almost shot the person who took the gun away from the assailant.

It's misleading because it incorrectly suggested that I was saying that higher rates of gun ownership equals lower gun related violence when in fact I did not say that.

In other words he used an invalid straw man tactic.

People saying automobiles and alcohol kill people too and that guns shouldn't be banned are fu*ing retarded.

Guns are extremely dangerous and should be taken out.
I completely agree.

But please tell me exactly how you plan to implement this and successfully take guns away from everyone (incl psychos and criminals). Even in the small, culturally homogenous, yet technologically advanced ISLAND country of Japan with a low crime rate, guns come in and people get shot. Mostly mafia chit but it comes in nonetheless.

Keeping guns out of the US = physically/logically impossible

There's way way too many out there. An estimated 270 million civilian owned guns. It's not going to happen. Which is why the NRA needs to STFU and stop scaring money out of it's supporters. I'm all for the right to bare arms and I'm all for stricter gun laws. Where's all the conservatives who were saying "if you didn't do anything wrong then you have nothing to worry about" when Bush was wirelessly tapping our phones and suspending the rights of habeus corpus? Well with stricter gun laws if you haven't done anything wrong and you have a clean record you've got nothing to worry about right? We need to make substantial changes to keep guns out of the hands of those with records of mental problems or histories of violent behavior. I'm all for waiting periods and most of all I'm all for draconian penalties for possession of an unlicensed firearm. I'm talking one strike you're out. Make it not worth the risk to possess an unlicensed weapon. And curtail these gun shows. They make it all do easy for shady dealings. If a private citizen wants to sell a gun they should have to do it through a licensed reseller on consignment that can handle all the proper documentation, background checks and waiting periods.

And for the record, the numbers of violent home invasions, which seem to be the number one thing that scares most Americans into gun ownership for self defense purposes are shockingly low. Yet it seems to be what everyone is most afraid of. How many of you know somebody who had to shoot a home invader?

take away their ammo. regulate and code it.
what about people who hunt?
or shoot guns for sport, such as skeet or sporting clays?
what is wrong with wanting to protect your family?

Americans are always going to have guns, and I agree with the NRA- if everyone has a gun the people who want to use them for bad will hesitate knowing that pulling out a gun will create a Mexican standoff

Mandatory education is the answer
