Went up to Kirkwood last week, Thursday and Friday.

Thursday was kind of a sleeper powder day. They were only reporting 6", but there were areas where it was definitely deeper. Plus a lot of terrain was not touched the previous day, so there were some divine lines to be had, even well after noon. I was feeling tired by around 2, but then ran into a buddy of mine who works at the resort. He was riding solo, and he knows so many good lines around the mountain, so I ended up following him around until closing time. I was beat, but it was so fun. Snow flurries later in the day as well.

Friday was a beautiful day for groomers, and I spent the morning cruising around with my wife and dad. Went hard until noon and called it a day. Wife and I stopped at the old Iron Mountain resort, built a couple fun toboggan lines, and had a blast bombing the hill.

Oh I'm generally pretty nice these days. I generally keep the dustings within the family. Coated my son as he was trying to spray his mother. Lessons taught and good fun had by all.

A score of a lifetime at Snowbird last Wednesday 2/7. Surgical snow strike with the atmospheric river plume delivering the goods to the Wasatch. 24 inches by Wednesday morning with another 12 inches during the day. After arriving at 7am, UDOT closed Little Cottonwood Canyon Road between 10am-3pm for avalanche mitigation work. Needless to say, the mountain was EMPTY, and I absolutely scored! So jealous seeing all these pics you guys are posting. Japan is on my bucket list for sure.
Heading to mammoth tomorrow to board Fri-Tue. Probably be a zoo for the holiday weekend, and I'll be with the kids half the time around the main lodge, but excited to get some boarding in while they are in ski school. Had some great runs off Chair 5 last year when the top was closed.

Went to Utah for a week every season for many seasons.

Snowbird is one hell of a great place to be at when you get dumped on and it looks like you scored it super good and empty, walking onto the tram. Stocked.

I am getting a serious twinge of nostalgia right now. I absolutely love Snowbird. Such a fun mountain and I have gotten first tracks all over it. So much fun terrain even on a regular day. And yes, that is the K-12 from Better Off Dead above Little Cloud.

My happiest moment at Snowbird was when they replaced the offramp on the Gad 2 chair. Steep, long runout into rutted death. Yard sales everywhere - good times had by all. So many fun runs just off that one chair alone. The more I think about it, the more I love that mountain. I really need to find a way to get back there! :jamon:

Japow tour day 17, took day off yesterday due to warm temps, light rain. Snow again today for our final day in Hakuba region. Activating JR Rail Pass (green car) tomorrow and taking Shinkansen to more northern latitudes… Zao Onsen, Furano, Asahidake, and Niseko (Ikon pass!) for our final 10 days. Weather next week in Hokkaido shows more snow.

Tuesday could be a potential day of the year up there. Holiday weekend crowds bailing and 20-30 inches forecasted Monday/Tuesday. I'm eyeing a strike mission heading up Sunday before it starts dumping. See you at chair 5.

so on saturday i decided to try skiing with my boots completely unbuckled

it was harder than i thought it would be!

at first i couldn't get an edge to hold AT ALL and was totally just side slipping down the hill

but by the end of the day i got things sorted out and when i did it clicked...

i'm doing tele style turns! and... i LOVE THE FEELING!

its way more work on the muscles - i was literally shaking with exhaustion at the end of the day

but the balance action is so much more natural, more dynamic, and engages the core so much more completely

very therapeutic for my sciatica!

i think i'm getting myself a set of tele skis and hey why not some skins!

Not surprised. I rented a tele setup for the day bitd and it was dank especially in fresh snow. The cool kids used to mount their tele bindings on reg skis.


The question you really need to ask yourself is are you prepared to rock the ponytail??? Ever dude I’ve ever seen drop knee at the hill was sporting one so I’m pretty sure it’s some sort of requirement. That and knee pads outside your pants.
