Just showed the wife the photo and she was interested. Asked if roads are open.

ps I could do dawn patrol runs without the worry of being ambushed by bears or big cats.
Road is open, but it's 26 mi of washboard. Not sure if you're still driving the vanagon.

Dumb cunce have driven on the playa when wet, walked on it when wet and left foot prints, stolen the friggen rocks out of their tracks over the years, so who knows what you’ll see. It’s been a handful of years since I’ve been out there, but it’s been progressively worse each time I’ve visited. Hope it’s healing after all of the rain.

Headed there for spring break to shoot the Milky Way at the racetrack. Can't wait.

@One-Off any plans for the first week of April?

We'll be in DV in April (driving home from Texas after the eclipse). Likely will miss the lake.

PS
For the Titus Canyon goers, once you are out of the canyon, and in DV, there is a parking area. Park, find the trail that leads to the north, follow into Fall Canyon, walk up main wash, when you get to the first dry fall, back up by about 100 feet and look for bypass on the south cliff. There is some rock stacking that will help you get into a vertical crack, and it turns into a nice trail. If the nice niece can do it, anyone can:

Follow, and you then can leap over the dry fall:

Don't tell my sister, she'd be mildly upset that I would be presenting a poor role model for her son.

PPS: If anyone is going to the Racetrack, see if you can find your way to the Corridor.

Is Titus doable with 2wd? Both times we were in DV it was closed as was Scotty's Castle.
Yes, I've seen some really crappy cars back there before, including 2wd vans on city tires and no spare.

But Titus Canyon is closed until 2025 (estimated) due to heavy damage from the storm we had in early Feb. In fact, a ton of roads are closed in Death Valley from this years storms, and some still closed from last season.

Road to Darwin falls is entirely missing in multiple places.

Steele Pass closed.

Wildrose got washed and is closed.

We never used 4x on Titus, but it was dry. The pass:

Petroglyphs at the end of the trail:

Not far from Titus is Rhyolite, a pretty cool ghost town:

Some cool art installations, too:

What’s the erBB prediction about the Death Valley bloom this year? I threw out the idea of going to DV to my wife and she said if we go she wants to go when the bloom is in effect. What’s the best time of year for that? The CA poppies in our yard are already starting to bloom.
