amazing lame sh!t in this thread...

:roflmao:

I too have asked toddie for his opinion, I have no time to reinvent any wheels...
I'd always have a discussion with my shaper about what fins I have & where I'm trying to go
It's all good stuff.

Reading this thread makes me wonder if greg is laughing his ass off or if he's thrown his iPhone against the wall :roflmao:

What are the differences between the different stretch quad sets? Which would be better for a small wave board?

Yes many parts of this are funny to me .

FCS created a whole new market and reality . Marketing , claims , slow evolution in materials , templates and the biggest one HP designs with no fins being accepted etc.

Surfers for the most part enjoy having a role - becoming "Designers" -;) in making their boards work well by seaching for the best working fins in their board .

Very costly and In the water time consuming .

Yes there were systems before FCS , but FCS were the ones that changed the whole industry over to systems .

Searching for fins is definitely costly. RTM fins are overpriced for what thry are. This can be offset by spending time on ebay and in the classifieds.

Which brought me to my latest conclusion: the best fin set up for my ultra joe is pg k3 fronts, g1000 flat foiled rears. Am keen to try this set up in futures on other grovelers.

What’s a similar fin to the k3 in futures? It’s raked, but not as much as the am’s, and reasonably sized.

Anyone check out the Matt Archbold fins, they kind of look like Stretch gen 1's?
Yeah. They feel really heavy, i mix the large fronts with the medium centre. They come to life when theres lots of power in the wave, bowlier the better. Not over raked but long base gives drive and sharper turns. Felt great with power, underwhelming on smaller days.
Id like stretch to make that larger fcs 2 size in futures, the pink ones are a bit small.

99.9% that the K3 is the Wade Tokoro fin
A touch bigger, apparently. I really like these fins as fronts, might be worth trying to get em as customs w/ futures based.

My google-fu is failing me. Can anyone tell me, whether there's comparable FCS2 fin out, that matches Tru Ames's Gary McNeill Twin fin (futures base) ?

Dims on the TAs are:
Fins are height 5.45/141mm
Base 5.16/131mm
Area 22.19/143.16 cm

Thanks!

Waxfoot, this template is out of production, right? I understand the pain of not being able to find your magic fin so i’m gonna do some research.

I don't know where anybody got the idea that my fin shop has been turned into a rental.

This just a rumor and total B.S.!

F.Y.I. ~~~ I continue to make custom singles and sets for all types of boards under the same logo:
"HALCYON CUSTOM FINS"

I have a fully equipped shaping room at my shop and an my own board logo:
"INTER-OCEAN SURFBOARDS"
Note: All boards are hand shaped and laminated with Resin Research Epoxy.

I'm also collaborating with a good friend, Palo Tung whose board logo is "BAT-FISH".

Stay Stoked, Rich
