171.11 Serious Unsportsmanlike Interference If the Discipline Director and Commissioner’s Office determine that an interference during an Event was intentional, unsportsmanlike and of a serious nature, notwithstanding any penalty available under Article 188 (which may include suspension from Events or an entire Tour), a Surfer will lose the benefit of counting their best Event result when calculating their Ranking on the relevant Tour (e.g. if this Article is violated at a QS Event, their QS Ranking will be effected). Notwithstanding any resulting discipline being imposed by the Discipline Director, the heat in question can be re-surfed if determined by the Head Judge that the result was affected by the Surfer’s conduct referred to within this Article.

Think the WSL will implement this rule in this situation? Or do they want to see how it plays out against JJF?

I regularly disagree with WSL Judges. The heat between Slater and Moniz was not as clear a case of BS compared to the Medina burn.

If you already have a reputation and you didn't do anything to earn it (90% of the cool brazos), you might as well go wreak some havoc, you will get sh!t for it whether you do it or not.

I don't see any prejudice against all brazilians because of disliking Medina's lack of sportsmanship...its a cop-out. Medina has brought the worst of soccer culture to surfing, which is unforgivable in a traditionally stoic sport. No one hates on most the other brazilians the same way

The WSL needs to enforce 171.11 before the next round

My kids and I met and surfed with Medina back in late 2016. He was totally cool with us. Gained a ton of respect for the guy that day.

Classic over-score / under-score judging. Seth got a buzzer beater and should have easily won the heat but he did not get the score because it would have eliminated the GOAT. Seth also got slightly underscored on his backup ride as well.
