Migration away from California?

The ability to work remotely does mean you can live anywhere you want. If you don't enjoy the outdoors and activities that California has to offer and you're just a worker drone going back and forth, well, why would you stay?

A NorCal move may still happen (hiring freeze stifled that for time being) but I am pretty content here. Although this June Gloom and early AM south wind has to skedaddle. Although nothing compared to the 50 mph winds and pouring rain camping last Sunday night at Lake Arrowhead. In late June WTF.

I've traveled a lot through the US and pretty much have come to the conclusion that in lower 48, plenty of other states have pieces of what I like but California has pretty much everything. Who knows what fate has stored for me but yeah, either California or Hawaii and that's pretty much it. Everything else is a substantial downgrade.
How is Oregon/Washington a substantial downgrade from NorCal?

From a surfing and beach lifestyle perspective, the further north you go, the further away the beach is from civilization. Santa Rosa is doable, but even there you are about 35-45 minutes from a small handful of spots, with much longer drives to go anywhere else. Unlike most of San Diego through Santa Cruz where you can easily live near the beach and still have all of the conveniences of modern civilization.

Therefore if you don't mind freezing your arse off in and out of the water, commuting for basic necessities and social interaction, and men outnumbering women by a huge margin, then yeah, coastal NorCal through Washington is great!

The frequency of cold-ass rain and/or snow.

That being said, I had to do some work around Corvallis a few years back. That area is beautiful (happens to be right around where they filmed Stand By Me), cool little town, decent beer, not too far from the surf, great hiking, snowboarding isn't horribly far. But a lot of foul weather to work around.

You do get spoiled in SoCal as far as weather.

If they get that giant plunger/donut wave machine to work consistently in freshwater lakes, that would be a game changer. Get a lake side cabin in the mountains and plop one of those things in front. Would bang.

Kento this doesn't smell like Colorado to me.

I think our boy is in Flagstaff (YEWWW) or Santa Fe. Nice picks! But Zonie gonna Zonie.

the janitor, does the Western States Pact and/or State of Jefferson have a General Plan, for, say, the East, and what to do about the races found there?

Is ifallalot going to be one of the useful 10% of Zonies sent to man the forts on Front Ranges overlooking the vast plains stretching out towards the SocialEast hordes?
We have a General Plan, but our Supreme Leader is drifting about aimlessly right now. I'm hoping that when he finally gets a haircut he'll re-engage on our Eastward Expansion. We've got Utah flanked to their East and West so Arizona is the next key territory to manage. Having a peaceful annexation would probably be best. But, we need to send a message to Texas so if ifallalot has to destroy the village in order to save it, so be it.

Irradiate a stretch from Yuma to Needles to such a degree that no one can drive through it without losing their hair, teeth, and fingernails?

Work from home allows some people freedom to move
Probably more people taking advantage of some flexibility, and some people getting hit economically by the covid shutdown and going somewhere cheaper.
I think I’d love anywhere along the California coast.
Maybe it’s not perfect but you guys got it pretty good, nature-wise
I left last month

Got a job with the same pay for somewhere where houses cost about 40% of what they do in CA
hows that going?
How close do you live to people you and your family knows and like to hangout with?
Do you live in a mixed (socialists and trumptards), or is it segregated?

Many many more questions, but those are my top 2

My nephews GF and her family are moving out of this area going to South Carolina. They have family there. My nephew is planning on moving back there also when they go. Her grandfather is the head of the county water dept. He's already offered Ben a job.

I missed it

We live really close to some family friends and both of us have friends from either college or younger days that are fairly close. In the last 20 years I lived in 3 different regions and like 6 different cities/neighborhoods before this move so making new friends isn't something that's new or a problem. All of our friends in HB were just made through sports from the kids so I'm sure that's going to happen again here where theres' even more families and kids

I can't tell politics from the neighborhood we're staying in (house won't be done until September and we haven't even been here a month) but honestly there were just as many Trump flags in HB as there are here.

Maybe they were all Trannies to begin with? It's harder to leave when you have 4 generations, 5 now, of family here. Roots.

But what the hell, wish about 20 million more would leave.
