I am going to be fine down here in my little corner of the dirty SW but in 10 years when I retire, I doubt we will stay. Splitting time between Delaware and Huatulco sounds more appealing.

Summers in Oaxaca sounds epic for a regularfoot.

Don't you sport 4/3 or 5/4 in SD now? You know what is going to happen to those feeble, cold-soft old bones in Delaware in February!

CBS, CA
Neighbors sold their home, contacted several moving companies for their move to Utah. I was told they heard from several of the movers that the cost to move out of CA was between X% and Y% more to move them from the State than it is to move people into the State because the demand for people moving out of CA was so much higher than the number of families moving into CA. He’s a business finance consultant and apparently already has a number of new clients lined up (due in part to the significant drop in business revenues due to the quarantine). His wife got a job at one of the local ski areas (thus the family gets their significant ‘employee’s discount.’ They spent 2 months in a rental and have found a new place with the feed back there is so much more property at a lower cost than the old neighborhood. His move was due to financial and political considerations.

you find a place to kick people with your shins yet?
I've found a couple, but our house isn't done until September and we're still building the facility until December-ish so I don't want to make a commitment until I'm more settled. And they just closed all the gyms here again anyway. The gym that is close to my work is supposed to be super-legit and was recommended by my coach in HB

You moved from the state that produces the most pornography to the one that consumes the most, per capita. I've not been to Utah, but hear it's beautiful.
Not Utah, but one of the other other 4 corner states. Deseret is larger than I thought. It's beautiful here too, there are a bunch of regional parks close to where we're at and I've already done a out and back hike over a 2000' mountain this morning. I ordered a bike too so I can be a mountain lancer

Kento this doesn't smell like Colorado to me.

I think our boy is in Flagstaff (YEWWW) or Santa Fe. Nice picks! But Zonie gonna Zonie.

the janitor, does the Western States Pact and/or State of Jefferson have a General Plan, for, say, the East, and what to do about the races found there?

Is ifallalot going to be one of the useful 10% of Zonies sent to man the forts on Front Ranges overlooking the vast plains stretching out towards the SocialEast hordes?

there are some hot Mormon chicks who think God's mission is for them to be in shape and sexually obedient at all times for their husbands

just think of all of the other Mormon stuff as an elaborate ruse to engineer this result and you will be fine

I wonder how many of these people moving are taking advantage of remote work and keeping their same jobs while enjoying lower living expenses. I heard that facebook is downgrading salaries of people who do this based on where they are moving to.

That said, I imagine the majority are hardship and/or people just escaping the cost of living and traffic. If I paid through the nose to live in San Ramon or the San Fernando valley only to spend hours in horrendous traffic per day commuting, I'd probably be over it too.

I love where I live and will probably live out my career here, although I don't see myself retiring here. I could make it work, but if I have to live like a monk, I'd rather stretch my dollar elsewhere. Will probably split my time between 2-3 places with maybe 3-4 months/year in the states.

I know generally where he moved to but that's up to him to share.

Ifallalot, if we provide you all the RPGs you want and you successfully protect California's eastern border from the swarm, we will provide you a 100 barrel/week stipend.

the remote work thing opens up so many possibilities

the more it starts to become a permanent option, the more people will bounce from major cities

this morning my wife read an article about people who started a farm on martha's vineyard for teenagers and adults with severe autism to work/live on

she was like, we should move to MV, which ordinarily would've have been a crazy "what if" but now we could probably actually live there full time

The ability to work remotely does mean you can live anywhere you want. If you don't enjoy the outdoors and activities that California has to offer and you're just a worker drone going back and forth, well, why would you stay?

A NorCal move may still happen (hiring freeze stifled that for time being) but I am pretty content here. Although this June Gloom and early AM south wind has to skedaddle. Although nothing compared to the 50 mph winds and pouring rain camping last Sunday night at Lake Arrowhead. In late June WTF.

I've traveled a lot through the US and pretty much have come to the conclusion that in lower 48, plenty of other states have pieces of what I like but California has pretty much everything. Who knows what fate has stored for me but yeah, either California or Hawaii and that's pretty much it. Everything else is a substantial downgrade.
