rather than playing with weird sh!t I think most people would get so much more out of their surfing by working with a shaper to dial in boards, riding variations of the same stuff.
I'd get a lot more out of my surfing if I could get some coastal engineer/oceanographer to take every dime me and everyone else around here spent on Florida boards other than a good wave board and a bump squash relaxed rocker thruster and instead made dredged channel/jetty setups all over this bitch.

Detached wind/chop blocker jetty.

Bent upcurrent wedge/downcurrent sandbar runner walls jetty.

St. Andrew's Pass Shell Island throwing tubes/Amazon roping lefts/St. Andrew's tubing ramps galore jetty(s).

A great big rockpile every 500 yards from Sebastian to Melbourne Beach to break up the walls into wedges.

Mason Ho rips. He and Stephanie Gilmore are two pro's I look forward to watching: in part, because of their Aloha, and in part because of their high performance surfing on "weird" craft. Mason in particular, draws unreal lines that I can only imagine doing myself...

This video is a good watch about an intermediate surfer and his MOTE.
I like the part where he quotes a more advanced surfer riding his board and being enthusiastic about it's straight line performance! While there are lots of great shapers out there who I would trust to build a custom board (Greg Griffin is one!) ordering and paying in advance is risky. At least if you pick one off the rack, you know it's what you want. Although I guess you would have a fairly easy time selling a MOTE used at a premium if it's not to your liking, something an hp board won't fetch used.

@Mr J grab some more at the apex of the turn :shaka:
@need 4 speed we can see two distinct wakes from the swallow tail, so even though the area loss from the swallow incut may be similar to the area loss from the rounded corners of a squash it doesn't look like they would work the same. I think comparable, but not the same.

Marketing + media has everyone focused on the outside foil of the fin .

Area design of the template is more important and first concern with the foil adding to it .
I like seeing the way the water comes off different points of the board, interesting
I use your template, pretty much plug and play for me

I love how guys start scratching their head when they order through a middleman and don't get what they expected.

Anyhow, I don't get the hype over this board. It looks like ass. Fun to go straight on. Looks difficult even under the feet of good surfers.

Totally makes sense Mason Ho would like it in racy, hollow sand points. Which means nothing to most of us.

If it's the same or shares any similarities to the board Ace borrowed in the video in average conditions he didn't look to thrilled.

I think the hype is indicative we're at the kopi luwak or maybe "circus act porn" stage of surfboard production/accessibility.

I thought the same thing when Ace was surfing it.
