he basically has to pay the fine for the initial judgement before he is allowed to appeal

I think that's horseshit

he should be able to appeal without paying the penalty AND that appeal should be expedited

I think it would be a sign of good will for the NYAG to waive the bond

Im inclined to agree but Im not familiar enough with the procedures.

The purpose of requiring a bond or deposit to cover a judgment during an appeal is to make sure the money is there to collect when the appeal is over. If James collected $454 million from Trump now and he won his appeal, he would be entitled to get the money back. But that doesn't necessarily mean he'd be made whole: if his property were sold as part of the process, there's no guarantee he could buy it back for the same price.

Wouldn't Trump, if innocent want to get the court cases done so he could get on with campaigning and with that being said, hopefully being proven innocent in a court of law so he would look better in the eyes of his constituents that would vote for him???

He's trying to cause too many delays and too many problems per each case to be innocent or he would want this all behind him as quickly as possible. And he's dragging it all out. Every. single. case. Every. way. he. can.

He wants the hush money case to play out into the election so he can do the persecution victim thing. He wants the Mar-a-Lago documents and Jan 6th cases postponed so he can have is AG toss them. He wants a hatchet job in Georgia to get out of that one, but FONNY wants that Donny.
